I have had two adult season tickets in the East since 94. One for me and one for my old man and latterly the missus when my old man passed away.
However, as I am now a dad my missus wont be able to go anymore, actually she has hardly gone at all this season so I usually take a mate.
Because of this I dont want to renew her ticket next season, but I would like to be able to keep/reserve the seat for the future. Its my intention to take my child in a few years time (if I have a boy) and in the meantime I still would like to take a mate for certain games. As its a good seat I am worried that if i just give it up someone will snap it up and its bang in the middle of our little family block of 10.
Would the club be able to reserve it or give me first dibs on the seat? I am thinking of just renewing the ticket for an Under 16 price and upgrading if I want to take a mate, but I would obviously rather not shell out for a ticket that will only be used half a dozen times a season.
I know its cheeky but do you think the club would recognise that I am a loyal customer and not sell the ticket as a season ticket to someone else. Obviously on a match by match basis they can sell the seat but I would like first dibs on it, say 3 days from when tickets go on sale.

For what it's worth I was/am in a similar situation.
My (ex) wife and i used to go- she stopped and i asked the same question of Eammon Bannen (sp)
It's not possible unfortunately, however, if all the other seats around it are S/t's then there is a fair chance it may not get sold as a season ticket which do tend to get sold in groups, as do individual tickets.
What i do, is call up on the day the tickets go on sale and do it that way- not had any problem to date.
If Henry knows otherwise, that would be really helpful!
what is wrong with taking a girl to football??? :-)
if i were you, i'd ask around if anyone fancied going halves on a kids ticket/adult ticket one of your mates etc, thus keeping it free from fattie bombattie strangers and not costing you an arm and a leg in the meantime.
The older two go on an occasional basis these days mainly because they have both lived some distance away at Uni and got out of the habit. Indeed one of them is still living in Yorkshire.
reckon your best bet is to renew it at the £99 quid option to guarantee the seat and then try and get rid/upgrade it on a match by match basis. GolfAddick has done this as his little 'un is only 4 at the mo. There will always be someone who wants a seat from here or NA or mates and if you can't get shot of it for some games the it's only a loss of £5.21 in the PL and £4.30 in the FizzyPop.
that's the saddest thing i've read in a long time...your own dad and family...people like that shouln't be allowed kids...pass me my hankie...
poor dad probably got fed up with going Charlton, but still gives up his saturday's and hundreds of pounds on the off chance of getting a snatched 100ft wave from his estranged daughter....hates it when we lose as he thinks 'she won't wave now'....pass me that hankie ltgtr
If anyone on here wants a seat for certain games next season they can have it for the upgrade price so will save a few quid.
They have to miss the last 5 minutes of the first half to get me a half time beer though :)
its a hard one southend, and i know how you feel mate, but i think the answer will be there has to be a rule with no allowance for grey areas, as then it will go on to 'where do you draw the line' ?
As you say, the liklihood is no one will take the single, and even if they do, as long as you can get one in later years in the same row then you are fine, as you can move people up. But if you are that concerned, then i think the best thing to do would be to bite the bullet, pay the £99, then try to recoup as much of it as you can throughout the season.
That's exactly what I've done this year and it's worked out fine.
if its any help , I pay £99 to reserve a seat until it can be used more often by my grandson, and let mates use it nearly every game for the price of a pint plus the upgrade, the club told me this would be ok.
I think your queston has been answered already but I would add that the club is trying to get rid of "singles" as these are hard to sell. Most people want two or more together so secure the seat for the future by getting a kids tickets.
When is your baby due BTW?
