I'm clearly in the minority here, Frimpong did ok after a slow start when the game seemed to be going on around him. Fair enough he did settle in and made a couple of excellent cross field passes and showed a lot of promise but on an hour's play I don't quite have him up there in the 'world beater class' that some do on here. It's all about opinions!
No mate, it's not just you. Bags of potential certainly and some glimpses of class but I think there's a lot of wishful thinking and a case of the Emporer's new clothes going on.
I don't think anyone has suggested he is a world beater? At the most the majority, including myself, have said he is a class above what we already have.

One would hope so, having been with a premiership club since he was 9 years old? However I prefer to reserve judgement as I did with Wilson when loads on here were writing him off after one game! How he was man of the match on the stats thread I have no idea except to quote Bournemouth Addick's phrase 'a case of the Emporer's new clothes' Did I miss something or was he pulling up trees?
Maybe not pulling up trees, but he was pulling the strings. Surely it was obvious that we looked a lot worse after he went off? I'm looking forward to seeing him once he is match fit...
To be honest I never noticed much different except that Pritchard took over his role CM and Green did not receive much service when he went RM. I'm sure he has a lot more to offer and I look forward to witnessing it but man of the match seriously? No wonder Henry and a number of others don't bother with the player ratings anymore.
Thought for a young lad who has not played many games in his career and is recovering from an injury he looked a class act. First part of the game he was bypassed a little by their midfield and he clearly has some learning and a long way to progress but he grew into the game and some of his distribution was fantastic and would have had people raving if it was from Stephens. Very promising debut.

I thought his movement, skill, desire were great, some Parkeresque moments. Then again I thought Chris Solly was just above average most of the game (not up to his usual very high standards) but judging by the player marks he is not allowed a mark below 7 and will be pushing EF for MOM, I couldn't see why?
Promising start, looked more powerful than our midfielders and comfortable on the ball.
Could see he probably wasn't match fit nor had he played with his the other players before.
As said we can properly judge him after a run of games. After his debut Stephens was supposed to be a level or two above Racon, but he went on to be inconsistent himself and not the "Steven Gerrard of League 1" that some suggested he was.
That said I think he'll do well with us. Along with Wilson, Pritchard and Kerkar we're starting to see our midfield improve on last season, especially when it comes to pace and energy.
Surely we cant miss the opportunity of a song that rhymes Emmanuel Frimpong and Kenny Achampong? There is no way anyone can claim such a song was "sung by Villa first" or "Forest sang it for ages before us but slower"

i agree with this - he looks powerful and given a run of games could become a dominant figure for us but wasn't the cut above that some seem to be suggesting on here - not yet, but he could become it. Like to think he'll get more game time tomorrow and then be ready to do the biz on Saturday
