10 Men vs 12.5

  • Well, our appeal against the Southern red card was of course rejected (no surprises there from that **** of a ref whom I hope never to come across again). I have to say though fair does to Powell and Morrison who both backed our appeal and stated there was nothing at all wrong with the challenge. Shows real class by both individuals who must have felt disappointed on Saturday and it would have been easier to `turn the other cheek` as it were. Have posted on here before about how I like Powell and this just reinforces that point. Great Bloke.

Good result for your lot last night whilst we showed about 5% of the determination that pulled us through on Saturday. A similar `performance` to last night on Saturday with 10 Men would have seen us get beat by a cricket score. We were a total embarrassment last night, truly shocking. Not happy.
  • TBF we've never had any luck with appeals either. Few years ago, we had a suspension increased for a sending off on the grounds the appeal was "frivolous".

Glad CP and MM backed it as did most of us on here after the game.

Cheers Bournemouth. To be honest we never appeal because it`s pointless but the club felt very strongly about this one and with the support of the Charlton Player and Manager, that only helped our cause.............alas some toilet who has never played the game knows better than the likes of Grayson and Powell with how many top class games between them?. It makes my blood boil, it really does.

I hope he never refs another game involving us.

  • Seems like its only prem players that get red cards rescinded

Was that the Sankofa red at Arsenal away, when he was sent off for a professional foul when the person he fouled was offside and then they made it a 2 game ban on appeal? The kind of episode that makes you lose hope.

I assumed that was the one BA was referring to, Sky four club getting the decision in their favour of course...
  • You lookin forward to a big derby on Saturday LBTF? Think we might overtake you by 5pm?

Yes Mate, but the plans that are in place by the West Yorkshire Police are draconian (for Town fans anyway). Basically, the West Yorkshire Police have raised the white flag in relation to being able to control Leeds fans. Early kick-off and the Police plans are to control the Town fans instead so the Leeds fans are not being kept in after the game and we have a long detour to go about our normal business. Why are they not being kept in like we have been at Elland road for 45 minutes?. As stated, they have admitted defeat the Police and their strategy is to allow the Leeds fans to make their way (the direct way to the Town centre) without Town fans anywhere near. Businesses being encouraged to close. So in summary, it is our home game and all the inconvenience is on us, ridiculous. Smacks of the government not being able to tackle pissed-up scrotes so what do they do?, sort the scrotes out?, no, tackle the alcohol instead by raising proposing to raise the prices and spoil it for the rest of us.

What about you, looking forward to your derby match?. Is this your main derby or is it Palace for example?.

Some would disagree these days but historically Millwall have always been our derby. Everyone looks forward to them with a mix of excitement and dread due to our appaling record against the Spanners.

We've had endless threads about who our rivals are on here but I think we can agree Sat is a highlight of the season (or lowlight depending on result...).

.......so what Police measures do you have to encounter? (have always thought that London is impossible to police and thought the same again on Saturday when we came across a load of Sheffield United`s boys!). Is it a nasty one for you or are Millwall fans okay (ish) with Charlton fans?.

  • The only fans that millwall fans are ok with are millwall, I'm not too sure about that either.
  • But what about that really nice fella from Wigan we had a beer with last time G? He was salt of the earth...lifetime Millwall...well, from the time he saw the Panorama programme!! ;-)
  • Interestingly LBTF it should be fun in London on Saturday. 12:45 it's W Ham v Chelsea and 3 pm Millwall Charlton AND Palace Brighton. Not to mention Fulham v spurs with QPR Villa bolted on top. Police have said they will let us out at the end but it does give our friendly neighbours less time to organise ambushes.

Millwall is the one we most want. Many Charlton have Millwall friends and family but that is much rarer with the Nigels. Unfortunately our record v Millwall is rubbish.

You should beat Leeds. They were pony when we played them.

That`s all Metropolitan Police leave cancelled this weekend then! and glad we chose last week to come to London by the sounds.

Millwall and us have history now due to the trouble at our home league and play-off matches the season they went up (google Huddersfield vs Millwall battle of waterloo). There was even trouble inside the ground which is unheard of. I have to say, regrettably, that the trouble was not all down to Millwall fans. As a Town fan I wouldn`t want to bump in to them and their game at our place is a Midday kick-off I think (its not exactly a local derby but reflects what has gone on and what might be coming).

Re Leeds, I have a bad feeling about it. We have nothing upfront without Vaughan and Beckford and Leeds have hit some form. Mind you, we seem to have the `Indian sign` over them so here`s hoping.

Think you would probably take a point if offered?.
