city away - ticket allocation

1689 seems a bit on the low side though at this stage we obviously dont know whether they will sell out or not...but lets assume that they do...the next step would be for the club to ask for more, we assume...but i read elsewhere that city have only given chelsea 2,000 (is this correct ?) so that would only give us another 311...again, we dont know whether we would need that many but lets once again assume we do...the question is would city give them to us or not...now, i dont know the answer to that question but i do notice that on the city website they sell their tickets in two ways...1] advanced ticket sales; and 2] matchday sales...being a live tv match, i suspect that option 2] against charlton will be very important for ticket sales...it'll clearly dent the crowd for this match if charlton did have a greater demand for tickets than its allocation because that would mean matchday sales would have to be stopped...the logic of a football fan, dont you just love it ?...

  • Chelsea have definitely been given 2000 tickets. 30 quid though
  • yeah but have they said 2,000 as they can't be arsed to actually specify it's 1,689.
  • Very possibly as further down their ticket info it says they've got 2000 for Watford instead of 1,900 odd that we got.
  • I would be very pleasantly surprised if we sold 1600. I reckon 1200 max for a good friday!
  • and following on on the logic theme...if you were a man utd fan and city were in danger of getting relegated and they were playing what could be a crunch match in that battle (a bit of history for you youngsters out there - city 'relegated' man utd on the last day of the season once so there's a bit of overdue payback) then wouldn't you just like to turn up on the day and give a bit of added support to the away team...perhaps the ob better make this an all ticket match asap...that should ensure a half empty stadium to dispirit the city players and fans and a better proportion of the noise for the charlton fans...
  • It all depends on how we do against the Toon and Wigan. If we lose both of those, I don't think there'll be too much demand.

YOU PESSIMIST !! No way. Four points minimum IMO.

Not really. How many times did you go to Millwall to cheer on the opposition in the seasons when they were relegated?

I hope you're right. But I've we've been supporting Charlton long enough to realise that we can't take anything for granted and whenever a challenge arises, play-offs excepted, we largely fail and everyone's left disappointed and deflated. Personally, I can't think about the City match until we've got Toon and Wigan out of the way. All of my energy is concentrated on the next match and winning that.

    C'MON YOU REDS
  • I reckon with the general malaise around Citeh, plus a £27 walk-up price for one of the most incoveniently-timed matches of the year, the Massives will be incredibly lucky to sell this one out.

  • They barely got 40k last week against Wigan for a local derby, 3pm saturday, and not on Sky. Against us i think it'll be around 35k.
  • must be honest, had hoped it would be a little cheaper than £27.
  • Sorry to put your fire out but I'm in a box at The City of Manchester Stadium...Next to Liam and Noel....FOC.

Match ticket and travel for £32, you can't argue with that these days.
  • might be £32 for you, but it would take a monster effort for me to endure a coach.

but did you see the wigan away support, no more than 1000 were there!

ah, go on, we'll look after you !!
  • i think £27 is a bit steep too - good friday, low profile oppo, on sky, they really are fearing championship football next season, getting in every penny they can!
