Home games seem to get a good level of coverage but away games take a while to be reported.
This is most likely that there is someone at Sparrows Lane or the Valley from the Comms team (who do work very hard even when Matt Wright isn't looking) but not at away games.
One thing few clubs do with such games, is print the opposition team as well, which is a shame, as especially with games against the larger clubs, the opposition will contain some well know experienced players, and starlets.
went to game this afternoon conditions wet windy and sf''very cold... no team sheets so cannot give you Barnet line up but our boys lined up as follows: GK Nick Pope Defence Semi Ajayi, Harry Osborne, Matt Taylor, Morgan Fox Midfield Bradley Jordan Danny Green Danny Hollands Courtney Harris Strikers Callum Harriott Joe Piggott Subs James Ashton, Dillon Phillips, Harry Gerard, Tom Derry
1st half goals coming from Joe Piggott getting on the end of a low swooping cross with a diving header into bottom RH hand corner, this was fairly quickly followed by Callum Harriott finding the target with a great strike from outside the box half time 2-0. Barnet did counter on several occasions but strong and capable defending from all of the back 4 ensured Nick Pope had little to do, I think he only had to make 1 actual save in the first half. 2nd half more of the same with Barnet finally getting a goal back arising from a midfield back pass to Ajayi which took a last minute unfortunate bobble allowing the Barnet Striker - no name!! to nip in 1 on 1 with the keeper - back of the net THis was really the only upset of the game. Substitutions came at around 70mins with James Ashton on for Harris, Gerard on for Green, Derry on for Piggot, Ashton scored within about 10 minutes with a lovely shot on goal from around 25 yards out. Game ended 3-1 to Charlton could easily have been more with the chances they created and Barnet fought well to keep the scoreline to this.
Solid performance another good result with around 60 watching the game, a good few of them were probably agents and Edgar Davids was spotted on the sideline during the 1st half.
Would definitely be good to get better attendances at least at the home games, you will see a high standard of football played - most of the time !! and its a free to watch for season ticket / Valley Gold members
Home games are at Sparrows Lane, apart from a couple per season at the Valley. Sparrows Lane matches are free to Red Card holders as well as ST holders and Valley Gold. Fixture list is on the OS. Next home game is next Monday v Brentford.
I find the games relaxing to watch, as the result is basically unimportant (to me at least). A very different experience to first team matches, and highly recommended.
Now according to the OS and who am I to argue the 2nd goal came from Danny Hollands and the 3rd was Callum Harriott apologies to Danny and I'm off to Specsavers
Might try and get to next Mondays game, if its cold can you get a cuppa at the ground or should I take my upper west flask with me with matching blanket
Question for Madadd and DickPlumb (or anyone else that goes)...
Are any of the kids at this level going to be good enough (in your opinion only obviously) to make the step up and are they far off...heard great things of Osborne a couple of years ago but since his injury noises around him seem to have gone a little quiet.
Can't help thinking that now we are back in the Championship we may be able to keep hold of one or two if they are diamonds for at least a year or two... unlikle Shelvey/Jenkinson when we were League1.
GK Nick Pope
Defence Semi Ajayi, Harry Osborne, Morgan Fox
Midfield Bradley Jordan, Courtney Harris
Strikers Callum Harriott, Joe Piggott, Azeez
Subs James Ashton, Dillon Phillips, Harry Gerard, Tom Derry
I think the players who are going to make it in my opinion are Semi Ajayi - has everything you need from a Centre half, pace, aerial ability- things that let him down his passing is not great al la Rufus.Muldoon-good passing ability and a great shot.Holmes -Dennis- master stroke to move him from midfield to left back.Harry Gerrard-very neat close control and good passing needs to bulk up a bit.Joe Pigott-holds the ball up well and is very dangerous in the air.Azeez-very quick and direct, needs to improve on his finishing.Sho-Silva-see Azeez.Others have a chance but I feel these have the best chance.
Was it Azeez warming up with the first team at Bristol, was actaully the best finisher in the warm up, I know its not a match but it was quite fun to watch

Unfortunately the catering facilities are non existent;( bring flask or just down the road is Big Boyz cafe... a must visit if your hungry

Athletico, DP has covered quite a few of the players who in his opinion might stand a chance I would add Bradley Jordan - midfield, Morgan Fox Left Back and of course Jordan Cousins Right Back at this level, might want to read link article below in answer to any of them stand a chance, http://www.cafc.co.uk/news/article/20121112-u21s-preview-481846.aspx

I have watched Harriott since he was playing for the U16 and was very excited by him at that age.But feel that he has gone backwards.Choosing the right option seems to be a problem. But he has got all the attributes he just needs a bit more vision. With Cousins I feel he should be knocking on the door of the first team but is someway short of that. Can play in a number of positions but I think that right back is the best one for him and he has the redoubtable Chris Solly in the way.Poyet is the one I feel will be pushing for the first team in the next year. This may sound a funny thing to say but he looks like a professional footballer. He is strong in the tackle,is cynical when he needs to be,can pass it and is a good leader. You can see he has been schooled very well from an early age.

Barnet is closer than Bristol, so I'll be dissapointed if it's less than a thousand.

Well done the Comms team, for picking up on our interest.

We've lost only one game all season - anyone know what League position we are right now?
