Trains to City

edited March 2007 in General Charlton
Well according to the timetables there isn't a direct train to manchester on good friday full stop. Have to make at least one change. Worse, there's no way of getting back. You can get a train out of manchester, but then have to wait 4 or 5 hours for your connecting train, eventually getting back to london at 8 or 9am saturday. Cheapest adult fair for this fantastic service is £70, so only 3 or 4 times what it would cost in petrol if you can get a few of you in a car.

No wonder there are so many cars on the roads, the cheapest, quickest method of getting from a to b is the car.

  • Yep, looks like I shall be driving up there. I ain't forking out £70 to get a 2nd rate train when I have a nice comfortable car sitting in the car park outside my house.
  • I don't know if it is even possible, but if the club could do one thing for this game I guess a good one would be to request a direct, timely train from London to Manchester - perhaps with coach transfers to the ground? Wouldn't have to be free.

You can't go direct due to engineering works. Unless the club can stop the engineering works, how will they get a direct train?

I'm guessing the poor service is down to engineering works... so no club train would be possible anyway...

    Has anyone looked into flights?
  • Train to Sheffield or Leeds with coach transfer??
Flights from LCY a possibility though you can't expect the same numbers as a train.
  • Coach to Birmingham International then train to Manchester.
  • just watch it on the TV we took thousands to Boro and were shit so what;s the point.
