Sounds hopeful for Thatcher, if today's bulletin is to be believed...
"Defenders on the mend
Fresh from battling back to pick up a Premiership point at Watford, Alan
Pardew will be further boosted this week as a clutch of key defenders return
to training.
The Valley boss was optimistic that Hermann Hreidarsson, Madjid Bougherra
and Ben Thatcher will all play a part on the training ground this week after
the trio missed the trip to Vicarage Road.
All three have been nursing knee complaints leaving Pardew, who was also
without the suspended Souleymane Diawara on Saturday, with a possible
defensive headache of a more positive kind ahead of Newcastle United's trip
to The Valley on March 18th.
He said: "We were unfortunate with injuries. Ben Thatcher's been brilliant
for us and losing him was a blow.
"To also lose Diawara, Hreidarsson and Madjid; there are not many
Premiership sides that can cope with losing three of their best
centre-halves. I'm hoping all three will train this week at various points."

[cite]Posted By: AppyAddick[/cite]I can see how Ambrose and ZZ would be.
Not sure about Thomas, i know he got two against wet spam, could he not come in for holland?
Thomas should know that he is under great pressure from Reid [*insert joke here*] but I would give him the chance first, swap at half time if needs be. Anyway, what on earth are the chances of Thomas and Reid both being fit?!
Holland and Song is a partnership that is working - don't mess with it unless we have to.

If Reid is, he could well be benched - Ambrose, ZZ and Thomas are probably ahead of him in the pecking order at the moment.
