Rob Hulse

How long he on loan for?? Personally been quite impressed with him although has missed some sitters he always seems be in th right place. Will he be instantly dropped when fuller fit or play alongside him?? any chance we'll see his loan extended??

Comments

  • Loan ends on new years day after the Watford game I think.

Would like to see him sign on and maybe if we can get Clarke off the books it may free up so more wages.
  • forgot about Clarke!!
  • Agree, not an instinctive finisher, but strong and holds it up well, however Hulse will always have a better game playing in a 2 up top IMHO.
He gave us a good round of applause at the end of the game as well, I would like to think he likes it in SE7.
  • His loan ends after the Watford game on New Year's Day , he didn't make the 25 man squad at QPR so I cannot see him staying there.Like Scuffle I've been very impressed. Two goals in four full games is a good return, now he is having a run of games I suspect he will get better.

I was also encouraged that he wanted to come here and claims that he turned down other Championship clubs to be here,I know last season he turned the Spanners down.

However,if both Fuller and Kermo are fit I'm not sure that a target man striker would be a priority, but if he does get better I would like to see him stay.
  • Think he would play well with Fuller
  • Why would we extend his loan reading the match report from the wolves game he was biggest disgrace to wear the shirt?
  • I think Fuller and Hulse could make a more than useful combination or Yann and Fuller or Yann and Hulse. Could be very interesting when SCP has a fully fit squad to pick from.
  • The white Carl Leaburn!!! Sign him up
  • Two goals in two games so far and he is easily good enough for this level. Lets hope he keeps it up.
  • He may be a little static at times for some but after our first goal last night he completely bought into the team ethic, chasing so much down, and earning his reward. He's strong, experienced, and an invaluable stop-gap for our two injured centre-forwards. He seemed to thrive on the atmosphere and looked like someone whom wanted to be with us. Whether we can afford him long term with Yann and Fuller fit is another matter but the latter will clearly miss games even if we give him another year. Can't ask much more of a loan player than what he gave us last night though.

  • Really like him, big strong and can finish. So many on here have slated him for missing those chances against Wolves but it his first start in about 2 years. Even his goal against Middlesbrough was being slated. Would love to see him up top with Fuller but saying that him Haynes ran riot in the second half yesterday.
  • We just seem to be creating more clear cut chances since he's been here. Whether thats just a coincidence or our players having more faith in the ball sticking with him and pushing up to support him, I don't know.
  • Like the lad he's strong, wins the ball well and holds it up to bring the others in. If we could afford him he would be a great addition to the squad
  • The best hold up player we have had since Andy Hunt. Pairing with Fuller sounds good to me and worth trying.
  • He's a Dario Gradi boy. He's been taught to play the game the right way

Is this true, his finish against 'boro was being slated?

    What blithering idiot posted that?

This was the response, Just felt like it was an attack on him when he was one of the better players.

Can I just say for all those saying hulse took his goal well, it was a huge deflection and was going straight at the keeper. I thought he was also at fault for the first goal as he failed to mark Friend meaning cort had to chase him leaving Woodgate alone at back post. I was screaming at him for that.

I'll probably get a torrent of abuse, but I for the moment I'm pretty lukewarm on Hulse.

While he seems to constantly attract high balls, his awareness and reaction speed don't seem great, and he doesn't seem to look up enough to know what is happening around him. Passes and headers were often completely misdirected, and he lost possession (from admittedly quite speculative balls) quite a number of times last night. I also don't really agree that he chased everything down - he looked really static in the first half, although for that excellent spell in the second half he competed well.

I'd like to temper this criticism by noting the excellent opportunity he crafted last night, when he poked it round the keeper with a good touch and tried to shoot/cut it back. It showed a glimpse of quality, and may mean that his deficiencies are the result of being extremely rusty. I certainly think we could do a lot worse for a loan player, but hope that his awareness, touch and reactivity improve with game time.

Before all the bores jump on me, I'm not being a 'moaner' after last night's fantastic win, just trying to give an accurate critique.
  • Considering he only played a few games in the last year before joining us, he's done very well. It can't be easy coming into the side after the odd game with QPR reserves/under 21s ( some of them at centre half, according to the programme).

He's suffered a lot with injuries - like all our forwards - but is doing a good job in helping us over a very difficult period. He also has a good reputation in the game as a hard working and honest pro and is the sort of player who is up for a bit of a scrap.

I doubt that anyone will want to pay a fee for him, so we may have the option of keeping him on some basis in January. I expect it will depend upon the fitness and perceived durability of Fuller, Kermogant, Haynes and BWP.
  • My opinion of Rob Hulse - A very experienced good honest pro. Holds the ball up very well, enabling other players to join attacks, has never been a prolific goalscorer, but the sort of player much appreciated by team mates. I would love to have him on a permanent basis.

  • Hulse is a very, very good solid pro - an excellent loan capture and is probably a better option at CCC level than Yann in some ways, and probably better for the type of football we need to play at the moment.

Sometimes striking combinations just come together, Hulse and Haynes could work very nicely indeed and Fuller could be left to fully recover and gradually re-introduced rather than being rushed back in.
  • Happy with Hulse so far.
  • Would be pleased if we can get him in, the option of
Fuller, Haynes, Kermo, Bwp and Hulse is a very good one as they are all good strikers who could get in to at least 10 of the teams in this league IMO
  • Not wishing to have death threats or anything, but I think his game as a whole is better tahn Kermit - who I think is great. I think he brings in others a bit quicker but not a lot in it.

As a top two I would prefer Hulse and Haynes to Kermit and BWP. Fuller is THE man though.

  • I think Hulse has played well for us,worked hard....no moaners on this site can complain at this loanees work ethic....has not had many games in the last couple of years, but is looking better every game....How anybody can honestly post disgrace to wear the shirt at wolves is beyond me!.......Yes and i was there!
