Before we play City

edited March 2007 in General Charlton
we have Newcastle and Wigan at home.

City have Chelsea at Home and Newcastle and Boro away.

Currently 6 points behind I believe it's inconceivable that we'll be more than 3 points behind come the game. Even 4 points from our two games will IMO leave us a maximum of 3 behind as I can only see them picking up an away draw at best.

This game will be the biggest game for years IMO. As long as we don't lose, then, considering the remaining fixtures I'm confident we'll be able to pick up 3 points more than them. A win would be obviously prerferable.

  • City have a cup 1/4 final at Blackburn on sunday. I can't work out if i want them to win and therefore they'll maybe have their eye on the cup instead of the league. Or lose because a win might give them some confidence going into their next run of league games.
    Thoughts?

Ideally we want them to be in a winning position and then get pegged back to a draw late on thus forcing a replay. In the replay we either want the same again with the game going to penalties and them losing, or them to get completely stuffed.

I'd like it to be a draw that goes to extra time in the replay, I appreciate the replay will be after the Charlton match, but one more game won't put them in good stead for the following weekend's Premiership match.

not sure about that. The replay would I'm sure be in the week beginning the 26th or if that is int'l week then the week before our game.
  • Preferably we want them to be winning 3-0 at half time only for them to have a dreadful second half in which they let in 3 goals, demoralising them and forcing a replay. The 3 goals all happen in the last ten minutes: in the first one Joey Barton make a rash tackle and is forced out for the rest of the season through injury. The second goal is one is which Micah Richards tries to head the ball off the line but misses and hits his head against the bar and loses his memory for the rest of the season thus forgetting how to defend. The 3rd goal is an overhead kick own goal by Forlan who then loses all confidence for the rest of the season. Stuart Pearce throws a wobbly after the game and all the players get pissed off with him and the next day he gets the sack. The fans revolt and many send back their season tickets in disgust. The potential investors get second thoughts and decide instead to look at other options like Bury and Stockport. Man City then start to get extremely nervous and hire Eileen Drewery who summons the witches from Maine Road. The witches take out their frustration in style calling in the bulldozers who raize the COMS to the ground. Man City are forced to play the rest of their games at Old Trafford. The replay at 'home' to Blackburn is then delayed because the club have made a huge ticketing mess. They have to try again a week later but having let in a triple hat -trick by Darren Bent the week before they get even worse and lose 10 - 0. The players go on strike. The fans have to play and don't ever get into the opposition's half of the box. Charlton climb to safety with ease.
  • LOL. Fertile imagination. One question, who is Forlan ?? He used to play for Utd but now plays in Spain. Shall we say Samaras instead ?
  • Whoops. I was getting muddled up with Folan who plays for Wigan. Is it that I am rubbish at remembering Man City's strikers or is it a natural result of them having no-one memorable? Let's say Samaras yes. I was thinking of the guy with the long greasy hair but couldn't remember his name.
  • Yeah, we want City to draw the FAC game and then have a nice tough replay at home that goes to ET and penalties.
We also want a couple of injuries and sending offs/bookings as well, a Barton send-off for violent conduct would be pure gold.
  • i just want us to have a minimum 4 points from the next two games, and sadly i fell that may prove in the long-term not to be enough.
  • Oi, AFKA none of this 'sadly ' stuff......

    You gotta BELIEVE !!

You 're not paying good money to see our team give up, are you?

So if Pards and the team show the right attitude, then you have to, as well....or else! ;-)
