Goals For and Against

Not sure if this has been mentioned in another thread, but in the 13 games this season we haven't scored a second half goal at home and we haven't scored a first half goal away.

The latter observation is unusual as our 10 total goals scored on the road is as good or better than all but four teams. In short, in seven away games we haven't 'lost a second half', whilst at home we obviously haven't won one.

Statistical quirk or something more meaningful?

  • Bizarre stat, not scoring in the first half away isn't a problem but no goals in the second at home needs to change. Last season I'm sure we scored more in the second half tham the first at the valley?!

Shows the fact that we are set up more defensively away from home than at home. In away games, the emphasis is initially not to concede, and in the second half of away games the players either need to attack more to get something from the game or are intructed to attack in any event.

No real reason why we should not score in the second half of home games. Indeed, on the face of it, I would expect us to score equally in the first and second halves at home. There may be a factor of holding what we have.
