  • Hamer 7 not at fault, claimed crosses well, good distribution
Wilson 7 got up and down well, decent crosses
Morrison 6 got a torrid time from their striker
Cort 6.5 as usual got everything in the air
    Solly 7 solid as ever
Green 3 awful, no crosses, weak in the challenge, drifted inside all the time and pathetic effort for their goal. Unfortunate. That we'd made 2 changes as he needed to come off sooner.
Stephens 5 we lost it in midfield, forced too deep offered nothing going forward
    Hollands 5 v poor
Razak 6.5 looked our best midfielder
Kerkar 6.5 dangerous and tricky, worked hard
Fuller 5 too isolated, injury looked bad
Jackson 5 looked to be carrying an injury
Wright Phillips 5 worked hard, delivered little

Pritchard n/a gave a bit of impetus

Don't normally comment on this thread except for giving players marks but judging by the marks so far apart from 1, Wilson was probably our best player.
  • Only my view. Do we award 4 points for doing things like remembering to put shirts on the right way round or finding the pitch at the end of the tunnel? The only people who deserve more than 3 yesterday were Wilson (why do people hate him?), Morro and Cort. Everyone else was 3 or worse. This was truly inept. And Hamer needs to go shout at a mirror. Tit of the highest order!

  • Hamer 6 Waiting to see replay of goal to see if he was at fault, but otherwise ok.
Wilson 7 Initially very critical of him but now have to concede that recently he has been one of our better players.
    Morrison 6 Usual solid performance.
Cort 5 Looked very vulnerable early on, but improved during the game.
Solly 7 A class player, even when the team around him is disappointing.
Green 5 Nowhere near his recent level of performance.
    Stephens 6 An average game
Hollands 4 Same as against Watford, giving the ball away cheaply. Easy to see why he was subbed.
Razak 6 He may appear a bit lazy, but he was nearest we came to scoring. Bad mistake to sub him.
Kerkar 7 Tried hard and got in some decent crosses.
Fuller 7 A class player. We are going to sorely miss him whilst he's out injured.
Jackson 6 At least he showed determination.
    Wright Phillips 4 Totally ineffectual.

  • Hamer - 7 delt with most work competently
Wilson - 8 Charlton M.o.m. always looking to go forward. Could be used better in midfield.
Morrison - 7 Rock solid defending.
    Cort - 7 As Morrison
Solly - 7 Usual good defending.
Green - 5 poor game, tried hard at times. I think he missed a tackle for their goal.
Stephens - 7 class with the ball.
Hollands - 5 not sure if he will make it at this level.
Razak - 5 game passed him by. One decent run but got caught out with the ball in midfield.
Kerkar - 6 tries hard but I think we need more.
Fuller - 6 obvious class but spent to much time on his backside.
Jackson - 6 improvement on Razak in midfield for second half.
Wright Phillips 6 Did not get the service he needed to make an impact.

  • Hamer 6 Average game
Wilson 6 Looks good going forward ,got caught out a couple of times through the channels
    Morrison 6 Steady
Cort 6 My POTY so far ,useful in both boxes
Solly 6 Improving at Left Back but I'd still prefer him back at Right Back
Green 5 So inconsistent either seems to play a blinder or stinker it was the latter yesterday
Stephens 6 Kept going ,but was overrun in the second h
Hollands 5 Not sure he will make the step up to the Championship which is a shame because I liked him a lot last season.
Razak 6 Don't know why he was subbed ,he certainly was not our worst player
Kerkar 6 Quick but not as good at the left footed dead balls as Jacko
Fuller 6 We will miss him ,but at least we have Hulse to come in.
Jackson 6 Tried to get us going ,but 4 4 2 allowed the Tykes more space.
Wright Phillips 5 We never gave him service.

To be fair to Kerkar when he beat the full back and looked up there was no one in the middle to cross to!!

  • Hamer 7.5 A couple of point blank blocks where I thought they must score. Distribution before goal should have been quicker.
Wilson 7 Good going forward; sometimes crossed from too deep.
Morrison 5 Would have been scored lower if Barnsley had taken their chances. Gave ball away too often.
Cort 6 So good in the air.
Solly 6 I so much want to see him back on the right though.
Green 4 Didn't seem to realise Barnsley were so quick onto the player with the ball. Often caught in possession.
Stephens 5.5 Didn't support the striker(s) enough. Too deep.
Hollands 3 Every pass seemed to go to a blue shirt or someone with a man on. Will surely be dropped.
Razak 6 Seemed to be settling in, after one dreadful long-range shot. Showed energy. Puzzling substitution.
Kerkar 6 Energetic, but little end product.
Fuller 6 Glimpses of his strength and skill. Seemed to have wrong studs, so he slipped over when he turned. We'll miss him.
Jackson 3.5 At least he sometimes got into the box but not much else.
Wright Phillips 6.5 Showed skill and effort, but either too deep or out wide. Needed in the box.

Pritchard n/a Would have been a 6 for trying to keep things moving.

Management 3 After a bright start, there was no movement in midfield. Throw-ins were back to the Parky days of just throwing the ball up the touchline, instead of someone moving into space to receive it.
I've never seen so many players played out of position (Solly, Wilson, Green (why so long out on the left?), Razak, Pritchard, Stephens and BWP (both too deep).
  • Hamer 5 Would have been a six but he is gradually becoming more mental with every game shouting at everyone doesn't make things better
Wilson 7.5 The best player on the pitch for us and looks to be useful for right midfield if CP ever tries Evina at LB
Morrison 6 Steady but looked to be out of position a few times
Cort 6 Ditto above but is a threat in the opposition penalty box
Solly 7 Not his best game but you can see the quality
Green 4 Terrible mistake for the goal and seemed to be adrift all match
Stephens 5 All style and no substance we need to find a way of getting him forward to see whether he has an attacking threat
Hollands 3 Was off the pace, dispossessed frequently and looked out of form he needs dropping
Razak 6.5 Couldn't understand why he was subbed looked useful
Kerkar 6 Tried hard and has good pace but needs to release the ball earlier
Fuller 6.5 Quality touch we are going to miss him
Jackson 4 Not up to the pace of this division I am afraid
Wright Phillips 5 has the pace and touch but he isn't a target man needs to be in the box

he dwells on the ball to long for me needs to get rid of it quicker dont think he is our answer on the left id like to see cook given a chance.
  • Hamer - 6 - Not much to do
Wilson - 7 - MOTM - let down by his final ball but ran at them -which is how you have to play against these teams.
    Morrison - 6.5 solid
Cort - 6.5 - solid but not the aerial threat he can be against some opponents
Solly - 7 - Great defensively - didn't get forward as much as Wilson but some player
Green - 4.5 - No threat and at blame for the goal - committed himself providing their player loads of time to pick his spot.
Stephens - 6.5 Pick of the midfield
Hollands - 4.5 Not sure he was playing
Razak - 6.5 - Unlucky with freekick - though understand why Powell swapped him for a striker. Needs to start with Stephens in middle though.
Kerkar - 5.5 Beat some people but didn't provide killer pass when needed
Fuller - 6 - They cut off his service to be fair - we tried to pass through them but it didn't work - needed to run at them more as we did towards the end but Fuller had gone off and we only had 10 men then.

Jackson - 5 - Ok -not really too effective
Wright Phillips - 6.5 - Touch and energy was excellent but again no service

We set up perfectly for an away game, but we need to go at teams more at home at this level. That means running at them, not passing through them when they play deep and close us down. Teams like Palace and BArnsley are more adept at frustrating and closing down your space and time. We will find it easier against teams like Leicester who we can counter attack but we need to have a plan for the others - plan A doesn't work.
