Why Was Chris Powell on the Telly?

edited October 2012 in General Charlton
I went to the pub at lunchtime and Chris Powell was on SSN (about 1pm). But the sound was turned down, there were no captions and my lip reading skills are on a par with Stevie Wonder's so I don't have a clue what it was all about. What I do know is that he seemed to be on for ages and he didn't look happy; no sign of that trademark smile and the way he was staring at his feet you'd think he was reviewing the latest offering from Mogwai. Did anyone catch it? What was he saying?

  • Bound to be the racism / kick it out thing. The only time anyone takes notice of us is because we have a black management team.
  • Racism kick it out i think
  • Cheers.
  • kick racism out of footy and whether there should be a rival pfa for black players(he thought that was a bad idea) ....i think thats what i heard only caught the end of it

    Highly likely it's this

This sounds like one of the worst ideas of all time. Who's come up with that ?
  • Yeah it was to do with the Kick it Out Tshirt thingy this weekend. It's the whole typical 'there is a racism issue so let's interview a black manager' thing again.
  • Chrissy, Hughton and Curle must hate it when this sort of thing crops up as they know they will be interviewed by all and sundry over something to do with racism but completely ignored over everything else.
  • Apparently a Jiminez impersonator has been doing the rounds, hitting media outlets with some wild cockney material. Usual measured reaction from SCP.
  • so is he a fan of Mogwai?

    think it was Jason Brown
  • So we're now going to have Match of The Day/606 populated with talk about bloody 'Kick It Out' t-shirts now.

Seriously bored of this now. It's been a whole year, non-stop, of having to bloody hear about it.

Next time you see him ask, R U Still in to it? And see what response you get.

  • He did comment on this last night, he said He does not believe UEFA will punish Serbia enough, He wants them banned from competitions, yet he has no faith in UEFA tbh, and fears the usual slap on the wrist. He was also critical of EUFA charging the English FA for there 'apparent' part of the trouble.
  • Saw former Crystal Palace and Aston Villa footballer (that's how he was introduced) Paul Mortimer being interviewed in the studio on BBC World news about the racial problems in the Serbia match. He came across really well, think he could do well in the media profession.

Not surprising he feels this given that bentdner was fined more for showing Paddy power endorsed pants than others have been for racism.
