Barnsley At Home Is A Massive Game Because.....

Football for a fiver could mean our largest Home gate so far this season.

My next door neighbour is going for the first time to the Valley to watch Charlton and taking his 7 year old son.

We need to get our home form going again.

We need to get into our players heads that every game in this division is a massive game regardless of the opposition,

Hopefully the 250k Shelvey cheque from Liverpool has now cleared , and we will have installed the super dooper fast beer pumps in the 'refreshments' area.

We haven't had a home game for a while

Its not Sheffield Wednesday :-0

  • I thought the Shelvey money had long gone.
  • Especially after Palace's bumper crowd last week witnessed a pretty decent game
  • The football for a fiver games always bring a load of abuse from regular supporters for those of us who only go occasionally .I have supported charlton since 1967 and when I was at school went to all 46 league games in our promotion season 1975 I have been to 15 games a season on average for 45 years .Not been this season but the football for a fiver games reignite my interest if we win and do well .If we lose I probably wont come for a few weeks .I love being in a full valley so I think it is important to keep the likes of me on board.

Does it? Is that how it comes across?

From my perspective I think most of us are pretty supportive of the initiatives and certainly wouldn't dream of having a go at someone who turned up. The more the merrier as far as I'm concerned - so a very big "welcome back" from me mate.

  • Sorry Tim, but I don't see loads of abuse from 'regular supporters' anywhere. Most ST Holders appreciate that the Club is trying to promote itself and we all want to see the seats filled.

I'm glad these promotions are done, I love to see a full Valley and I always make people welcome around were I sit if they're obviously newbies or lapsed fans - particulalry the kids.
  • timken, forgive me if i am wrong but did you play football for a team run by a Jack Lake.
Good for you coming along this saturday,it will be my second game this season.
  • My boy is 1 of the mascots and hopefully they wont let him down and do the buisness

good stuff , i'm sure he'll enjoy it , my eldest son was mascot for the chesterfield £5 game last year and it felt like a better atmosphere than usual with a bumper gate
