A couple of months ago, when I was credited with having 'a head full of rocks' and 'cock-eyed optimism', I was insistant that we had still had a reasonable chance to stay up.
But one point I did make was, that if the team gave it it's best shot and we were all positive, then we could be in for an end of season roller-coaster of tension and drama.
Don't forget, even a couple of seasons ago, our old mate Dowie was only 8 minutes away from staying up with Palarse - and failed only thanks to Jonny Fortune.
This season for us could go right to the wire - a real white knuckle ride.
People who were bemoaning mid-table mediocrity and craving excitement have got their wish.
When we stay up, we'll look back and remember this season......but for now, let's ejoy the thrill of the ride!

think its like a gamblin addiction thing, its actually proven that you get a bigger buz from losin rather than wining, well losin i mean nearly wining!!
Have a word with Etherington, Carroll and an "un-named" West Ham player, they'll help you out with the gambling addiction thing........:-)
Which reminds me, was anyone here subscribed to the mailing list during the 1997-98 season, and remember Ritchie "Mr Positive"?
I didn't want to see my beloved Charlton just lay down and die.
Everybody was talking about how excited they were, dreaming of going to Colchester next season........????????
While most were busy banging nails into our own coffin, we just needed to get some belief and fight together.....and if nobody else thought it was possible, then somebody had to speak up.
REmember everybody.....
The Great Escape is ON!!!!
