  • Paul Mortimer won a couple of England U-21 caps with us in 1989, but was already 18 when he joined us.

Lloyd Sam won an England U-20 cap (and scored) - played at The Valley.

Carl Leaburn played for England U-20 on tour one summer.

Peter Reeves was capped at England U-18 level.

Alan Campbell was capped for Scotland U-23.
Don't forget Charlton wunderkind Kevin Lisbie played 10 times for Jamaica!

    ;o)

Shelvey can play v San Marino his ban was not at international level. Also his ban was over after the stoke game.

Be really pleased for Jonjo if he gets on.

Uncle, you and the family must be feeling so proud!

    Jermaine Defoe...

  • Peter Reeves played in the final ot the Junior World Cup in May 1967 losing to Russia 1-0,also in the squard that day was Paul Went.
As for Jonjo hope he plays some part of the match tonight ,
  • If I remember, "Wally" Went wasn't yet a Charlton player at that tournament though, Lewis's.

He signed for Charlton from Leyton Orient after that tournament.
The fee of £25,000 was then a record for a teenager.

He was only 17 at the time, so maybe he gained further U-18 caps while still a Charlton player?

Loved that Stokoe/Firmani side back then, with Wenty at centrehalf.
  • New signing for Charlton on the BBC site, reporting on the England U-21 match :

"West Brom defender Craig Dawson scored the only goal of a breathless game from the penalty spot after Charlton full-back Adam Smith was fouled in the box."
  • He's been substituted on.

Obviously happy for him regardless of the money we get though.
  • Assist for an assist of the goal within a few minutes, hope England score a few more!
  • Thats our jonjo on there unreal i am well made up for the whole shelvey clan

    Lol.

  • He looks so comfortable on the ball.

    It's San Marino ;)
  • No mate he would be too good for them and therefore the mgr wouldnt know how to play him

I would love him to score tonight
  • Forgot my smiley
  • We can be proud he was ours and proud to watch his progression

He done us a great service as a player and for a lad so young to have signed and ensured we got dough

Watching him now although through jealous eyes that we wont see the best of his career

You have to be chuffed for the kid
  • Looks his usual confident self.....lovely to see......
  • We'll done Jonjo, Showed Carrick how to play that role.
  • Good lad. Chuffed.
