  • Just got back from the U21s.We won 3-1 against Bristol City with goals from Dervite,Harriott and substitute Piggot. It was an even first half with us scoring but it was disallowed for Harriott being offside,he was deemed to be interfering with play as he was right in front of the Goalkeeper.Dervite scored with a header from a corner.Harriott scored when he looked like he was going to shoot on his left but then stuck it away with his right.Substitute Pigott also scored when Harris on the right of the penalty area gave an unselfish ball which was buried into the corner.Azeez in the first half missed a sitter from seven yards when it looked easier to score.Pigott also had a good header ruled out for offside.Bristol City scored a consolation when a powerful shot from twenty yards hit the inside of the post and bounced into the net.

Owen Oyston looks too much like Jimmy Savile for my liking.
  • He walked into the VIP area and I said he reminded me of Gary Glitter. Didn't even know who he was at first.
  • You didn't just say it, you said it to HIM!

    Quality.

Perhaps unaware that he had served time in prison for raping a 16 year old.

    Pretty astute I'd say.
  • Jimmy Saville meets Gary Glitter; oh dear.
  • Some of the eyes in that pic looked like they've walked out of the film set of the Evil Dead! :-0

How did Bover play ? From what I have seen I think he would make a great attacking midfielder.

I reckon @WSS knows a perv when he sees one!
  • To get back to the topic...

Poyet and Cousins both went off injured in the last game, so I guess that Poyet has not yet recovered. Cousins looked really good today when he came on, driving forward in midfield, rather than playing right back.
Both full backs, Osbourne and Fox, looked good. Dervite looked more experienced than the others, as you would expect. Bover was very good in midfield, intercepting, tackling and passing well. Harriott was quick and strong and tricky when one-on-one, though his final ball wasn't usually great.
Button was beaten at his near post by a 20 yard daisycutter, though I think it was his first game since his transfer. I arrived late and missed his early saves.

The ground was sodden, with water spraying everywhere. We put in too many attempted sliding tackles which didn't get near the ball. A less lenient ref would probably have sent someone off for one of them.

Our defenders played a lot of tippy-tappy among themselves, but instead of carrying this on to a midfielder, one of them would eventually appear to lose patience and hoof the ball forward for a poor forward to chase. We passed it a lot better for a 20 minute purple patch in the 2nd half, during which we scored our last 2 goals.

Agree with pretty much all of the above.Harriott is a very frustrating player,he has pace, ability on the ball and can beat his man but his final ball is awful.Bover I am not convinced by,he is quite skilful, can pick out a pass, tackling isn't his strong suit.He is not strong enough,in my opinion,to play in the Championship. This is the first time I have seen Button, but he had a mixed day.At the beginning of the game he played a couple of short passes that were intercepted. In the second half he nearly got caught in possession when he received the ball from a back pass but managed to dribble it around the player. He was also beaten at the near post for the goal. But he made a couple of decent saves in the first half.
