My take on today

edited March 2007 in General Charlton
Having had time to reflect on the way home

We had a makeshift back four El Karkouri did not cover himself in glory in the run up to their two goals
We had Sankofa at left back he put in an excellent shift given he circumstances we asked him to play in
We went 2-0 down, given our line up in defence that was not a surprise

Positives

we did not crumble came back from 2-0 down and could have seanked it
ZZ was a revelation, hopefully we will not see JFH in a red shirt again
Lisbie foced an excellent save from their keeper at the death, sadly slashed at the second chance
Romm proved invaluable as an impact player late in the game, his cross for Ambrose was excellent
We bossed the game in the second half on a dreadful surface
we have clawed a point back on Man City, They can easily lose their nxt three games, we can possibly win our next two, a victory at Eastlands on April 6th copuld see us out of the bottom three
Song...excellent

It still remains, win all our home games, pick some bits up away. We will not go down without a fight

Pre match we would have obvious;y hoped for three points but I see it as a good away point in the context of the whole game.

  • Well said Lats.
It ain't a bad result - we need to beat citeh and get AT LEAST 4 points from the two home games before that - and that will probably be with a much better defence.

And at least this is a draw in which we came from behind after just 20 mins intsead of throwing away a lead etc ... kind of keeps us some momentum and hopefully stamps on complacency.

    Just got back.....

Glad you didn't out Sankofa who done his best playing on his wrong foot. Yet to see the goals again but I had El Kak down as instigator of both those conceded.

For me, it wasn't a matter of would we score at the death but who would score it !!!

Good day out, back up the pub in a minute........ *hic*
  • Stone, sounds like the party started early as you are slurring your typing!! Have a good night!

    Cool! ;-)
  • I kept saying we need just three chances, it was certainly a case of when we score and not if... we had enough to secure a victory in the second half without needing SuperKev at the death.

Sankofa did very well and got forward more than I saw him do so at right back. A big ask of him today and I thought he acquitted himself with great purpose
  • Totally agreee Latimer, although i feel kak had a bad day , even if John Terry played alongside Fortune he would have a bad day.

Before the game i said i would be satisfied with a point but not pleased.

And like someone else said at least we didn't throw away a lead, which could have been damaging on morale etc.

Still feel Dowie made a mistake in keeping Lisbie and getting rid of Bothroyd.

But i think the chance he had was not as easy as everyone made out.
  • Lisbie's deal ends this year so no chance to lose him last summer

Biggest problem is that we have only signed JFH when Jeffers JJ and Bartlett left

Hopefully this will be put right over the summer but it might cost a bit - Ashton might be available?!
