Just spoke to a QPR fan. He doesn't seem to rate him, but he did say its probably due to how they played when in the championship. As a player in the air he is apparently good. I think he will be good for us.
Chrissie wears his Sunday best Peacocks old he needs a rest The boys are playing up downstairs Slaters sighing in his sleep Hes always got a date to keep He can't hang around Our Hulse, in the middle of our street Our Hulse, in the middle of our Our Hulse he draws a crowd There's always something happening And it's usually quite loud
Our Hulse, in the middle of our street Our Hulse, in the middle of our I remember way back then when Everything was true and when We would have such a very good time Such a fine time Such a happy time And I remember how we'd play Simply waste the day away
QPR fans less than impressed by him, but it sounds like he was in and out of their team then they won promotion. Qpr fan: 'I always try to look at a player constructively, I'll admit I was pretty happy when we signed Hulse from Derby. But very early on it was apparant that he would be a hinderance to our promotion at best. Whilst I would agree he's not arrogant, his performances were diabolical.
In a target man you look for a player with strength, something he serverly lacks. He can't jump or win headers and 99% of the time he just fouls the opposition.
I'll never forget watching him warm up at Loftus Road and he scuffed 4 shots in a row wide of the post. I don't like him, but honestly I felt embarrassed for him. His confidence is/was clearly in absolute pieces.
Hopefully he can rediscover some kind of form for Charlton and get a permanent move away in January. He needs to get his career back on track, hopefully this will help him.
Personally, I think his legs have gone... But it will be interesting to see how he does.'
I wouldn't see Hulse as a potential permanent addition but probably as good as we can get/afford as cover for Yann. If SCP sticks with the 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1 formation I can't see him starting too many games. Fuller will be ahead in the pecking order for a lone front man role, with BWP next up.
definitely hes been around the block and back again in the football league, not gonna replace kermorgant but hes certainly capable of doing a job for us in the championship
Was having a very good season in the PL for Sheffield before an ankle break. Was OK for Derby, but never quite the same. He is the sort of player we need, and can work as the fulcrum up front. Frankly it seems he is past it, but the sort of risk worth taking for us. Personally Heidar Helguson would be the better type of signing - clearly not available - but his age places him in the same bracket as Hulse.
We need someone who brings our midfielders into play, and we'll need three central midfielders for what will be a difficult winter. Was widely reported as on 12 grand a week at Derby, so no doubt QPR are picking up a significant part of his wages. A canny signing.
I think he has the making of a sensible loan signing as we need a short term option with Championship experience. As long as Fuller is fit, Hulse will only be on the bench , but, given Fuller's injury record, we did need another experienced target man as cover while Yann is out.
I do worry Hulse may be more Andy Gray than Yann Kermorgant though. At least we're not spunking 7 figures on signing Hulse.

If you mean ex Skysports pundit Andy Gray I would be more than happy with a player like that.
Not seen him play much recently but my first thoughts when read the title was not very inspiring, past it even maybe but still at QPR due to a long contract that's why I ask how old
He's totally a different player to Gray, both he and Ashton could hold the ball up and bring others into it. Whilst pulling defenders out of position. Gray, like most of that team, needed other people to battle whilst he played in the spaces they created.
Let's hope he still can, the three of Hulse, BWP and Fuller should be able to combine well in the different partnerships.

Imagine if we had that sort of player instead of BWP in the 4-3-3 we played against Blackburn.
It's a 3 month loan - it's hardly the top players you get on a 3 month loan. Hulse is a decent enough player, I don't think he'll win us all over like Kermogant did, nor do I see him ever signing permanently, but he'll do a job.
Let's be honest, we desperately need a presence up there without big Yann and we're not sure the situation with Fuller. I really rate BWP, but I don't see him as a lone striker and would worry if we had to play him up there on his own for 5 or 6 games.
To be honest playing BWP up front on his own would only lead us to having no senior strikers whatsoever, the poor guy ran himself into the ground vs Blackburn and got battered from pillar to post in the process. Hulse is a bigger physical presence, as long as the numptiesboo boys Valley faithful don't expect goals galore he should fit in nicely.

The transfer itself seems sensible enough, we certainly need an experienced target man in the squad

Always think of him as a dangerman when he played against us but could only find the one goal;
