Dislike is probable too stronger word for it, "irk" is nearer the mark.
Paul Walsh - He was (and, come to think of it, still is) a couple of years older than me. As a teenager, being like Paul Walsh was my impossible dream. It has always irked me that he never gives Charlton any credit for anything; it's as if something bad happened to him and he never wants to mention us. Nowadays I wouldn't dream of wanting to be like Walsh, except perhaps that I wouldn't mind having his bank balance.
Darren Ambrose - I was never in the anti-ambrose camp. I was one of the seemingly few who quite liked him. But it really irks me that he does so well for Palace on a consistent basis, when he only did well for us occasionally.
Jermain Defoe - Not only for scuttling off at the first sign of a few dollars. The way he later announced that he wanted to leave West Ham on the very day they were relegated spoke volumes this self-centred greedy so and so (even though I've no time for the Hammers). Then he had to keep rubbing it in by getting England call-ups ahead of Darren Bent.
Danny Murphy Marcus Bent This may be controversial and I appreciate I might get slated but I never took to Lee Bowyer as a person. Although I supported him on the pitch, recognised his contribution to the team, his sneery, ratty little face put me right off. He just didn't seem like the kinda lad I'd go for a beer with.
Lee Bowyer always reminds me of a Forengaye (probably wrongly spelt) from the Star Trek franchise (Voyager I think). Carlton Cole Josh Wright (his daddy thought his little treasure should play every game and was too good for us).
Some great shouts in here. For me it's extremely hard to choose just three out of M Bent, Mills, Haisseilwank, Parker, Pardew, Pitcher, Lee, Defoe, Racon...
I'll go with:
1. Parker. Nothing really needs to be said, and what his behaviour actually achieved (for us *and* him) by doing that at the time.
2. Marcus Bent. Could not give a TOSS about Charlton. Arrogant c**t. Lazy, crap player. Utterly thick as pigshit. The end of our last prem game at Anfield. That youtube video of him and Danielle Lloyd walking down a street posing in the west end (set up by their agents). MARCUS tattoed on him in medieval writing in case he forgot his name! Human excrement.
3. Mills. Could not give a TOSS about Charlton. Arrogant c**t. (copied and pasted from above). The sending off - and then Pardew chuckling as though it's acceptable... actually Pardew possibly number 3 (for his 'management' time obviously).
I've actually wound myself up typing all this out. I think I need some breakfast/a life...
Great thread. So many great candidates, and it reminded me what nob Dunphy was and is. Anyone remember the TV drama he scripted which was based on his time with us? You know, I think with the passing of time I've almost forgiven Parker. Everything you've all written is right, but the way Chelsea went about it bordered on the sinister - a distinctly Russian approach - and I just wonder how many of us at that age would have been able to resist it. The one thing we have to say about Parker is that on the field he's given 100% for all of his clubs.
Marcus bent I intensely disliked before we signed him. After the Wycombe embarrassment he was screaming at matt holland to get off the pitch when holland was applauding those of us stupid enough to still be in the ground at the end.
Scott Parker, you can trace our downfall back to him having a tantrum and leaving. And don't believe all this crap that 'if another company offered to triple your salary etc" nonsense football is totally different.
Jermaine Defoe, met the little weasel once at bluewater and told him what I thought of him. He also could not give less of a hoot about fans at any club he's been at.
Darren pitcher gets a mention but because he was so abominable for the scum he just misses out on top 3
I just dislike him, was made a legend by a penalty save that my nan could have fell on and then used to walk around as if he had balls the size of sheep swinging between his legs.

But he's Serbian. That's how they walk :-)
Don't forget the 8 match run-in to that play-off game. He was in tremendous form. I remember the away leg at Ipswich when he caught a pile-driver that most keepers would have been happy to tip round for a corner. You could see the confidence surge through the whole team. It surged through me too.
The Dunphy thing comes from his book 'Only a game' where he writes a diary of his last few months at Millwall and ends up dropping a division to sign for us and his old Irish team mate Theo Foley . It is the story of a bitter man who at 28 is seeing his career disappear.
'So I went to the ground . It is funny but I've never liked Charlton .There has never seemed any soul there ,no guts ,no atmosphere .As a team they always seemed like a nice load of nancy boys .We've always loved playing against them ,because we've never had a game against them. It's been too easy.'
Danny Mills - those of us who saw him desperately trying all match to get sent off, know why.
Marcus Bent - more interested in scoring in a hotel room, than scoring for us.
Darren Pitcher - for giving it large, playing against us for Palace. Bastard!
Could name Judas Defoe, but he was just a young kid at the time, easily swayed by others with a vested interest.
Don't hate Parker, he just got excited by being offered £45k a week at 22 years old. Who wouldn't? Tapped up by Chelsea - that was the crime. And the timing, of course. But he never gives it large when playing against us.
There's a myriad of players who just came for the meal ticket. Disease of the game, I'm afraid.

Agree you might forgive Defoe if his departure from us was just an easily led young lad but he has chased the £ for every club he's played for and gets out as soon as he can earn £1 more. As for asking for a transfer on the day West Ham were relegated. Pure class. No sorry Oggy he's one of the most odious footballers out there.
Agree with Oggy, and on Mills he went from Norwich reserves to England player, europa league due to Curbs and CAFC and was one of my favourite players but never seems to have appreciated the debt he owes us. The Dicks match was stand out but the sending off was typical of all that is wrong in football today.
If people want to put Parker on the list for leaving, what about Curbs. His leaving was the nail in the coffin. And all because he wanted a holiday to New Zealand. He's not done much since, He could have stayed to build a dynasty. I always wonder whether he new that the team was on the decline and got out just in time. I will always be greatly disappointed in him (hate is a strong word) for leaving and not sorting out a replacement. If it was proven that he was responsible for Dowie then maybe I could start to hate him.

Please don't mention curbs in this thread, the guy is a legend. He wanted to see his last year out on his contract but the board were not happy with that. Not curbs please

Former managers probably deserve a thread of their own and I imagine many already exist (in the cl archives) about their merits or lack of.

Met Andy and his Mrs, nice couple....from what he told me many would have done the same. Always two sides to a story.
