NW Quadrant turnstyles

edited September 2012 in General Charlton
I sat in the North West corner for the Palace game. We missed the fisrst 10 mins of the game having queued for 20 mins outside. It felt a bit of a crush at one point. Does anyone know why this happened and does it always happen at this section of the ground? I normally sit in North Upper and have never had any problems getting in before.

  • Ask Airm...
  • doesn't usually get that bad at least they had the match no.3 on display for us season ticket holders thanks Airman Protheroe
  • we had this problem too, not sure what was going on
  • Larger crowd and a lot of people came late.

Not as large as the Prem days. Never seen it happen before.

    New/inexperienced turnstyle operators?
  • I think as FOD said it was the late arrivals as well, to be fair Matt you said yourself you lined up for 20 mins and missed 10 mins of the game so you rolled up at 19.35, its a bit tight if all the turn stiles are not open
  • There's been a few times when trying to get into the NW has taken ages and been a bit of a scrum/crush. The last time was when the tickets were all £5 last season.

Would help things if NW ticket holders could use North Upper turnstiles as well and then take pressure off the one entrance to the North Lower
  • Those turnstiles serve the North Lower as well as the North West Quadrant. The North Lower usually has lots of space (presumably because it costs £25 to sit there) but it was nearly full on Friday.
  • A lot of people queue for the turnstyles nearest the road and the ones near the gate are sometimes free. If you want to get in fast aim for the middle of the entrance for the turnstyles.
  • Simples get in queue earlier

  • I rocked up about half an hour before the game, strolled to the empty turnstiles and wandered in, same as every week.

    Turn up earlier
  • Thought they (NW Quad ticket holders) used the same turnstiles as the Covered End.

Thought that was the case....cheers MrLargo.
  • I left Legends at 19.30 and walked straight through the turnstiles into the East stand, in my seat for the red, red robin

Nope we don't..I've used the NU ones once to save time and didn't get told that I couldn't
  • Wonder if there was some confusion over the KO time... seemed a lot of people thought that it was 8pm as it was on sky, hence the late arrivals...
