Do we have one? Not sure we do. We started off trying to use Pritchard & Jackson as wide men, we soon realised not one of them can beat a man with either skill or pace (great attributes for wide players) so we decided to go long ball? One of the worst performances I've seen from Charlton tonight. Was saying last year that Jackson is nowhere near good enough and he WILL get found out...Laurie Wilson, not sure if he's actually serious or not? Gives the ball away for fun, we crowd the box 94th minute, all he's got to do is whip in a lovely ball straight onto the head of..... oh no, the balls in the north upper. Bright spark

As the supposed creative central mid-field player he created nothing much in the whole game.
I also thought plan-b was working when Fuller and Green came on. We certainly bossed the last 15 minutes.
Also remember that we had a valid goal disallowed, Palace didn't create much beyond loads of corners and our defending for their goal was very poor although he took it well.
Yes we looked more effective when Green/Fuller came on. Of course we picked it up in the last 15 minutes, but a bit lack lustre for me in front of goal. Slightly surprissed that the team did not react more.......
Wilson is a quality player, but he looked completely out of his depth last night. Don't judge a player on one game is all I would say
He was terrible in defence but looked better on attack, although his shot on goal made me want to hit him.
Although I was fuming when he decided to shoot from all of 45 yards with practically the last chance of the game...
*shakes head.
I'd heard he was in that role - look forward to seeing it. To be honest, I don't think Dennis Waterman was all that as Carter to start with (heresy, I know). I much preferred Michael Caine's portrayal. The less said about Sly Stallone's version the better!
;o)
My own view is that maybe we need a change of tactics, (certainly need to get away from hoofball) , but do we have the technical nous to be able to make that change? , because, i tell you what, if we continue to play in the mode we played on Friday, then not only are we going to have a relegation fight, but we are going to have some mighty disenchanted fans too.
I think that a little more pace and skill down the width of the pitch is really what we need to exploit and get in behind opposition defences, especially as the Championship is packed full of centre halves good enough battle Kermo in the air far more ruthlessly than that of the League 1 opposition. As much as I admire both JJ for his technical ability, and Pritch for his incredible work ethic, the concept of playing what I would call two central players as our wide men really limits our attacking options.
Not worried about relegation based on the Palace performance. It always hurts to lose against rivals, but the spirit shown by the team even in the dying minutes showed that we still have a hunger - something we lacked the last time we tried to tackle the Championship. And despite football being football, we were unlucky to have had a goal disallowed that would have potentially seen a completely different game.
