Can't remember the exact year but do remember being 'squeezed' in behind the goal until the next 'pen' was opened....thankfully it was but wasn't a pleasent experience especially for younger ones and the elderly...any memories of this?
Similar thing happened away at Oxford Utd as I recall. Cops very reluctant to open the empty pens either side. I think Pardew scored a couple of crackers.
January 85? 3rd round. Aizlewood equalised an early spurs goal with the 2nd rebound from his saved penalty. Bleddy freezing. Flanangan also rolled a shot past the post in last minute. Watched from shelf with spurs mates, tons of Charlton crammed into 2 pens behind PL goal, made lots of noise. Spurs had a great team, think crooks scored?? could be wrong.
A tie v Liverpool awaited winners of replay. Lost 2-1 several weeks later, after a couple of postponements due to snow/ice. Loads of fights behind covered end. Think crowd was given as 21K! most thought it closer to 30K. Ronnie Moore penalty consolation late on. Freezing again. Seem to remember Tony Towner playing, never a good thing............
Yes, Crooks scored early on for them 3rd minute I think and we all thought we were going to get spanked but we played well from then on and thoroughly deserved a replay. Our support that day was quality, quite a bit of trouble outside after though along High Road and Seven Sisters area,
If only that Flanagan shot was a few inches the other way!
We had a midfielder that day who was top drawer, can never remember who he was. Must have been Aizlewood.
After that penalty I ended up about 30 feet from my brother who I was standing next too. With Hillsborough back in the news it makes you realise how dangerous some of those away pens were.
Often after a surge or a goal scored we would be picking people up off the floor.

I think it may have been Dave Madden although Aizlewood and Curbishley also played well that day.
I am sure I remember a pub called the Robert Lee on the way to the ground, what a great day out and the reply, what a night, the game was cancelled but when it went ahead marked the last time the East Terrace held a decent crowd I think
I got there at about 1.00 just as the gates were opening. Freezing that day. Think our goal was our 4,000 th or something. Flash's shot went just wide at the end. The replay was postponed for a few weeks due to snow I seem to recall.
Mr Dugdale why did we get there so early that day?! Wasn't Clemence in goal for them and made a few good saves? I certainly remember it being cold and very cramped.

If it's the right one, then the thing I remember most about the away game was how cold it was!

Yep, just 6 months away from being shut down by the GLC. Remember them!
Think it was Madden who had a great game at WHL. Rated him, until he joined palace...........

Yes it was Madden ran the show. Didn't we get him from Palace?
I remember Dave Madden and Robert Lee having a square up in a pre season away to Maidstone and the ref telling the managers to take both players off
