Saw my first games at Sellout Park......made the first game back at The Valley all the more poignant. Watching the vids gives a little reminder what it must've been like for our fans having the turfed carpet pulled from underneath. Never again!!!
How thin was the sword on the Charlton badge! A very timely post, its easy to forget how desperate those days were and we should never forget them despite our more recemt premiership days. History is not always about good times, its what shapes us all and for Charlton its whats makes us unique. These two clips show exactly why tomorrow night is not just another game whether they care or not.
Totally agree wth you until your last sentence. Bit of ignorance on my part but what is it exactly that Palace did to us? Is it the administrative stuff - they made us use temporary offices? I'm sketchy on the details so genuinely would like to know.
Valley 11...no it wasn't just the portakabins. It was everything about it. Maybe you had to be there ( not being patronising). 6 years of utter frustration, it seems like a lifetime ago. It's why I despise palace anyway and can't wait for tomorrow.
When the only contact we had with Charlton was The Valley Club, would often have a drink and a chat in there with Mike Bailey.Watched most off the games at Selhurst during those years and can only say that all Charlton fans only had one goal to see football return to The Valley.

I had two season tickets there and do remember feeling like a second class citizen but was that palace fans' fault? Not so sure. Im sure they weren't chuffed having to share their ground. I'd hate lodgers at The Valley. Still hope we beat them tomorrow though.

Whether it was the fans or the chairman they all represent Crystal Palace the football club and it's them that tried to strangle our beloved Charlton. So yes, it's them I blame and it's them I hate.
Fair enough. I was young in the selhurst days so didn't experience all the pain of leaving the valley. I do rem palace fans being smug. But I think we're just better than them in every sense so they don't bother me. Plus got some good mates who are palace fans. Anyway, up the addicks!

He was always a good laugh.
Where is this Addick now ?
Bloke with the bowl coming out of the ground is hilarious, sees the copper standing and decides to act all Mr Large.
I thought it was Peter Varney !!
Not saying, I'll probably cop a right hander next time I see him as it is!!
