Too many changes ain't good so

edited March 2007 in General Charlton
keep Young at right back and play a natural left back at left back. Step forward Nathan Ashton. Anyone agree ?

  • No. Too big a game to throw an untried youngster in. Although what are the alternatives?
  • Sankofa at left back?

Agree in keeping Young at right back, anyway might as well play Ashton as play Sankofa. Kish might be another option.

thought the consensus was Young at LB and Sankofa to return at RB. With Fortune coming in that'll be three positional changes from last week. That's why I'd play Ashton and leave Youngy at RB. Sankofa at LB would be a disaster as would Kish at RB.
  • Yep looks like he'll have a back four of Young, Fortune, El Karkouri, Sankofa. It's the best we've got. I'd always say pick Ashton but he's very inexperienced and Young has played LB before. If he does play there I'm sure Pards will instruct Thomas to help back.
  • If Young has to play left back he might bring Hughes in on the left as he is probably better defensively than Thomas.

I hope he doesn't and that we go for it though. Thomas was flying against West Ham and I'd like to see more of the same.

We need to try and win this one!
  • how about Hughes at leftback? (radical idea I know)
  • I would keep Young at right back .... Kish at left back is an option.
  • I thought Ashton did ok against Carlisle in the Carling Cup. He appears to have a bit of pace which is a good sign.

Massive game to throw him in for a Prem debut though.

Kish struggles at RB let alone LB. I'm glad AP is manager. If I thought Kish was gonna play at all I'd offer my ticket now.
  • Why where is Thatch?
  • sorry I should have said 'radical' is that better?
  • Is super Kev fit?
  • I've heard that it will be Young (LB) - Elk - Fortune - Sankofa. Not the best of back 4s but Watford are essentially a championship team so it'll do for tomorrow.
  • with that in mind i reckon it'll be high scoring tomorrow, 3-2 to us with a late winner.
  • an outside chance option could be including faye.

elk rb (did ok against blackburn wasn't it?)
    faye cb
    fortune cb
    young lb

or swap the 2 fb's over so young remains rb and elk tries at lb.

    too much tinkering imo.

Ashton ElK Fortune Young. Everyone in the right position where they are comfortable.

Kish on loan at Leeds - so relax!
  • Les you would have been right if the chance fell to Bent instead of Lisbie.
