2. Charlton's annual exit from the League Cup has only come earlier on one occasion. It was just over an hour earlier, in fact. Who vanquished us on that occasion?
3. Charlton's biggest home attendance in the competition was recorded as 32,898 on 21 Sept 1976 The lowest was recorded at the ground of the opponents that day (2,089). I was at both those games.
Little lower than that 2083 and the opponents went to the pub afterwards before returning North. Went to the match at The Valley but not to The Boleyn.
3. Was in fact WHU, Lewis is quite correct. I was at the QPR game too - also 32,000 plus. I think it was the previous season and I vividly remember a packed Covered End doing that "Rodney is a fairy" thing with the wrists. Happy days.
6. There are currently 9 non-league clubs with a better or equal record of progress in the League Cup than CAFC. Two of them have knocked us out of the competition on no less than six occasions.
8. Charlton have gone out of the League Cup in (at least) 8 (eight) different ways. Could be a record. Were there any other ways to exit this cup?
i) losing at home ii) losing away iii) losing in extra time iv) losing on penalties v) losing after a replay vi) losing on aggregate vii) losing on away goals viii) ...............................?
9. The largest aggregate number of goals in a two-legged league cup tie involving Charlton was 15. For once, we won. Remember it? Who knocked us out in the next round?
You are right about Shrewsbury Smudge . I was in fact thinking of Posh in 79 which kicked off at 7:30 on Aug 14th but Shrewsbury was four days earlier.

What about losing a home game on an opponents ground? I think our first ever LC game vs the Hammers was a home draw but as we didn't have any floodlights we played it at Upton Park. Can't help thinking if we originally lashed out for floodlights for the league cup we shouldn't have bothered.

Think you will find that was the case if game went to replay.Lost match so did not happen. This match was 2nd league cup game played in county. No idea of two teams who played first ever game.
Lewis is right about that, too. Of course losing a home game at Sh*tehurst or Upton Park which was never a proper home game ought to count as a ninth way of going out. I am pretty sure no other club can claim a record to compare with that.
4. is not West Ham, it is in fact Luton Town who knocked us out on 4 occasions. Which is the other current non league side to have done us twice (question 6)?
Re Q5. No neither of those. Actually it is believed that neither Swansea or Hull City have ever made it to the QF, never mind lose at home to the mighty Wycombe!

Went to the match at The Valley but not to The Boleyn.
Other answer Wrexham maybe
Nobody has got 2. Yet.
(I was a bit disappointed to find ours was not in fact the worst record!)
Think the managers could be five - Seed and his three predecessors and the aforementioned gargoyle
i) losing at home
ii) losing away
iii) losing in extra time
iv) losing on penalties
v) losing after a replay
vi) losing on aggregate

A blind guess for the other Peterborough
