  • Lets hope everytime something does not go CP's way, we dont get these stupid posts about race, its sad and pathetic
  • I thought this was referring to the bottle thrown at the 100m final...
  • Would I be right in saying that Chris was banned for the first game of last season? I know CP is a very superstitious man. I’m just putting it out there.

Mamy he was trying to get himself banned hoping it will win us the division, maybe he can do it on the last day of the season when the title is sealed so he is banned for our first Premier league game LOL!

  • Difficult to comment on the original post, as it appears to have been amended.
The evil drink does that to us all.

The ref was bad but that article has actually made me more frustrated - I respect the way in which SCP dealt with it though. I also laughed at his comment about them "wanting to keep him in the little box" - thank god the OP has been changed or god knows what would've been read into that! ;)

What's annoyed me in that article is this: the referee was decent enough to put his hands up and say "my bad, I actually got that wrong" - thus awarding the wrong team a free kick for quite a nasty bit of play. Yet he then claims he's sending Powell to the stands to uphold the "image of the game". What about the image of the game when he missed half a dozen dodgy tackles and awarded a free kick to the wrong team? What about the fact that very few people actually saw Powells response yet ALL of them saw the play which led up to it, and all of them saw the REACTION to Powells incident.

I dont suppose the ref said 'my bad' for one moment on account that he is not 5.
  • Thing is, this season we will have a few bad days at the office.
You simply cannot make the assumption when those days come around, and we get a dodgy decision that it's all down to racism. It's shameful to play that card, SCP would never want his fans to make that call, unless it was bloody obvious.

And I'm sorry, but he got sent off in a poxy cup game, what even begins to reccomend that was down to his skin colour?
  • I don't think for one minute that anyone seriously believed that the ref was racist, I think even the OP was taking the piss.

Greenie - sorry that the subtlety of the way I simplified it was lost on you and you took it as gospel! Didn't think someone would be that easily led..

The thing is, I agree 110% about it being a poxy cup game, I say as much in my post. However it's a game changer if he ends up banned for a match or so - and I hope everyone who is saying this is a non-event remembers this. We need to grab a good start to this season and this isn't going to help.

I'm not defending SCP if he threw his toys out of the pram, but it's still left a sour taste for the reasons in my other post.

  • "Bad for the image of the game..."

Is this the new (FA) party policy that will hammer players and managers when they assault referees and blatantly cheat during games?

Mmm, maybe so in the lower divisions but large amounts of lack of moral fibre will be displayed by said officials in the premiership.

    Am I cynical or realistic?
  • I don't take the allegations of racism seriously - but the 4th official should have been even handed and tried to have done something about the level of swearing and abuse coming from the Orient manager directed at both the officials and his own players. Given that Chrissy was signing autographs and having his photos taken with kids in the West Stand after his banishment I know which manager gave the better impression overall.

  • Swearing seems to be accepted sadly.

Wasn't it Megson last year who went as far as abusing Morrison before Powell stepped in?

Yes that is what i heard.
  • No touchline ban.

BREAKING NEWS: Chris Powell will not face a touchline ban following his sending off against Leyton Orient - http://www.cafc.co.uk/news/article/20120815-powell-will-not-face-ban-314068.aspx (IL) #cafc
  • Breaking news. CP will not face a ban
  • At least the FA have seen it's the beggining of the season and felt that being sent to the stands was a enough of a punishment, but I suppose he will be more careful from now on about how he contols his emotions and so will I.
  • Thats brilliant. Hopefully he wont be practicing his football skills with drinks bottles anytime soon!
  • any news on the bottle?
  • In a local hospital but is now said to be recovering well.
  • How much water was in it? Could have burst and waterlogged the pitch and abandonned the match!
