I said most Tv games that are live, obviously nobody is going to start a thread if Rotherham and Southend are drawing nil-nil. It seems like some of our fans are determined to have a go at others if they have a pop at Wednesday because we had some ridiculous fake rivalry with them last year.

Does it really matter why the thread was started? Christ this forum is becoming infested with some seriously tedious bollocks.

Anyway, Weds were poor in the first half. Decent going forward in the 2nd but still poor defensively.

I was there lads, poor showing first half, we were playing in Pre season still, Oldham looked half decent, second half we blew them away could of been 5 or 6 in the end.

English commentator on the Canadian feed kindly informed us that Sheffield Wednesday went up behind champions Huddersfield last season :(

Kirkland looks a good addition, he'll need to be playing in front of LLera. Oldham will be kicking themselves, could have put some daylight between themselves & Sheffield had they finished those two second half chances.

Still good comeback by Wednesday, fitter & stronger than Oldham in the last 30 minutes.

Llera is going to struggle big time in the champ. He got the wrong side of his man a fair few times in that game. Gardner looked a bit pony too. Antonio looked very good

Apart from the 2 excellent chances they had to extend their lead you mean? Couldn't believe how bad you were first half, good comeback though even if it was just Oldham :)

Looking at Oldham last night I wouldn't be surprised if they get a play-off spot this season.

They've always looked half decent in that league, last night they knocked it around well but were always up against a better side.
The workrate and experience should do the trick for them this season.

I agree, we were awful first half, couldn't string a pass together, everyone was woeful in the first half.

Second half was better but our defence still needs attention imo, mistakes like we made last night will be punished big time in the npc.

Llera, Buxton and Reda were poor but good teams win when they play bad and no matter what you say Oldham are a decent passing side in L1 especially at BP, We did well to come back.

Think i'm glad we've got a pre season sleeping heads out of the way now.

  • I think they will finish above us, but don't understand why anyone would care.

A team that came up with us were losing to lower league opposition. I watched as it was a good indicator of where some of our Championship rivals are sitting with the season starting in less than a week. If it were Huddersfield on TV losing Preston (as they did) I'm sure it would've also come up.

It's quite comical actually how Wednesday fans have managed to convince some of us that we're obsessed with them. It creates paranoid squabbles between us like this whenever they're mentioned.

Took the words right out of my mouth there Callum.

Two similar teams, both came up from L1, both keeping more or less the same squad members, both hoping for a top half finish next season.

They are interesting to watch to help gauge how well we should do this season.

Noticed Llera is playing on the right side of defence now you've got Gardner, may be the reason for some of the confusion at times. Wasn't impressed by the Picnic guy who missed the pen but Antonio is a very good signing. Surprised Kirkland didn't break a bone making all those saves :)

To those making a point about 'gauging how Wednesday are looking for the season'

Will you be gauging how we perform this season based on a League Cup game we have tonight with Leyton Orient?

Not at all, but if we perform badly or look disorganised at the back against League One opposition (as Wednesday did last night) then it wouldn't bode well for coming weeks.
