The Olympics has filled a gap sportwise, but its not football, its not Charlton and its not a social gain i get with going to see the Addicks on a Saturday.
Its tough now, but once we're up and running we'll put the lack of transfers behind. Its the same team as last year, so whilst underwhelming in signings, the spirit must be excellent
I haven't been to any pre season friendlies, miss the League Cup game next Tuesday due to work, miss the first game due to work, the next 2 home games due to family functions and Notts Forest away due to work. So my first game is the Palace game on Sept 14th. Might stay at home and watch it on tv ;-)
So I'm not in the mood at all, knowing that I'm not seeing us for a couple of months!
I love cricket and also obviously football but this weekend I forgot that there was a test match between number one and two in the world and did not bother to look for the gillingham result until about 8 on saturday and only then with little enthusiasm, only to find it with even less
I can't wait till the start of the season and this is the first one for years where I have completely no idea how we'll do or what expectations should be which is making it even more exciting. The Euros and Olympics have just underlined to me how while I can get excited by national sports, Charlton are my only true sporting desire...
Looking forward to new season although no interest in watching friendlies or league cup stuff. Have increased our matchday group by 6 this year which includes three 12 year olds, a 9 year old and an 8 year old - all first time season ticket holders. Every one of them rates Kermo as their favourite player and if i'm honest, he's the first player down there for a long time that i really enjoy watching play as well. Solly and Wiggins were both outstanding in spells last year but the frenchman was immense in every game.
Once you take that familiar walk down Floyd Road that old feeling will come flooding back.....have no fear guys n' gals.................... it always does.
Keep in mind we have had the Euros and Olympics this Summer, both of which have heavy English interests. I can imagine that without either of those I would have been going out of my mind.
Thought the same the other day. The hartlepool game seems ages ago yet we have had euros and olympics to keep us busy. Without them I'd be going mental by now.
I think the pre season of 2002 is right up there too...signing Gary Rowett, Paul Rachubka, Chris Bart-Williams (permanently) then on deadline day we signed the mighty......Robbie Mustoe and Jesper Blomqvist.

I have always been someone who loved the football free close season, but by now the anticipation has always returned. Not this year.
This is the first in over twenty seasons following Charlton I've not been to a pre season friendly.

Money well spent on my season ticket so far!
So no I disagree
