The opening post by Henry suggested that MP would be invited to a Q & A at Bromley Addicks. Does anyone know if that invitation was ever made and if it was did MP attend ?

Oh good, I look forward to reading this positive thread full of interesting facts.
out of interest, if we signed a player that (excluding of injury), that in his contract only available for say 30% of our fixtures, yet was taking up 150-200k of the wage bill (partially contributed from your ST contributions), wouldn't you find that strange ?
Prothero is a strange one. A part-time worker rarely seen by staff apparently, highly paid apparently, a director of a company in the most public of industries, yet keeps the lowest of profiles, rejects invites to Supporters Meetings, has no job title or contact details on the club website etc, and no real idea what his remit is.
Could be a very nice bloke, could be great at his job, could be value for money. Haven't a clue.
Just yet another bizarre circumstance of not having a clue of the rationale of our owners / senior employees in wanting to take so a clear un-communicative presence in an industry built around establishing unity with its 'customers'.
I thought he negotiated the commercial aspects of the club (sposorship, shirt deals etc.) In that respect as we have a sponsor (unlike some clubs) that is ethical (unlike some clubs - Wonga related), we also have a nice kit - which this year appears to be in the right colour! I think that he is doing ok. Obviously I don't know the rest of his remit, but at the same time I dont really know what Varney or Kavanagh did to compare
Don't really want to get into this, but Andrews were signed up by Steve Kavanagh and Dave Archer. I understand the deal has been renewed for a lower amount, not sure who by.
To be clear, that is no criticism of the sponsor whatsoever. Seem like good people to me and, as stated, a lot better than Wonga, etc.
150k part-time plus bonus (source Richard Murray) is good money for choosing the kit, I'd say, but I concede he should be the expert at that.
People might like to read the article I wrote in regard to the deal and some of the background. http://www.castrust.org/2013/07/a-word-from-our-sponsors-shining-the-light-on-charltons-shirt-sponsor-andrews-sykes/ I did not mention figures, but the deal is in the top 5 of championship clubs, I would also mention that Ben Kensall did most of the ongoing discussions and details, having come from Arsenal, after the original deal was put in place by Kavanagh. I have noticed that Andrews are very supportive of the 'community club ' aspect and have been available and supportive of the club day and the kit launch, and so forth. Paul Wood the MD is a fan, and as a local company or 'depot' try and support the club. personally speaking I would rather have a supportive sponsor, than a few more quid, but in the days of 'the bottom line' where money is king, it depends on the details of the deal. Andrews will I am confident always try and support CAFC, and better to me than a betting syndicate.
I presume he is the 'lead' club manager to appear at the forthcoming tribunals with ex- staff in dispute with the club. If not him, then who? I expect he will have all the appropriate procedures nailed down, all the paperwork sorted, and he will be doing so in accordance with the law and with club employment policies. That would be a reasonable expectation for the boss man, especially if he is on £150k a year.
Maybe the plan is to use his salary to pay the out of court settlements so doesn't even have to do that? The chances are the court hearings won't fall on his working day anyway.
Had a little laugh at this (nailed down) is that his office Up North or him.
I know Kavanagh gave a lot of credit to Dave Archer for helping bringing in Andrews, although he took them to Wembley for the Tin pot cup. If Prothero was such a commercial genius surely he could have got a better deal, also Nike in place well before he came along.
