    Depends how you interpret it. It could have all been down to our cashflow problems from what he said. He said :-

    “Last year I was making wholesale changes and there was plenty of players who became available that I felt were right for us, but this year it has been a little bit trickier with regards to bringing players in but I’m hopeful that will happen over time. It has been a bit slow all over the place.

    “I’ve tried to get one or two players, it hasn’t happened so you just move on and hope the people you are targeting you hopefully get them over the line and get them in the squad.”

    Positive perhaps but my pithy little comment was directed at him suggesting that the rumours were made up. That is I think out of line. Perhaps it is your comment that is pithy.

    By its definition, a rumour is something that can be 'made up'. Maybe it could have been worded a little better, but I think the sentiment was genuine enough and didn't warrant your comment .

    Anyway, I've never wanted to get in a meaningless spat with anyone on here, it's a fruitless pursuit which has been all too prevalent recently . Roy the Boy,you and I are all Charlton supporters which is all that matters.

    So you are saying that some of our posters are liars then ? Strong allegations IMHO. Think they might not welcome someone saying they made it all up. Anyway I doubt any of them need me to defend them.

    Give me strength... where exactly did I accuse anyone of being a liar? 'Made up ' was in reference to Roy 's op which I said could have been worded a little better.

    I did have to chuckle at Redskins claim he doesn't ever wish to get involved in spats on here as in my position of occasional onlooker, he does seem to 'get involved on a regular basis

    Do you honestly think anyone on CL has the time, energy or inclination to make up "false rumours" about the Club we support ?

    We may disagree about the pros and cons of certain players ; everyone has their own view as to team selection or even management ( in the past, that is) - that's maybe the tip of the iceberg.

    But one issue which united Lifers around 18 months ago was the Club's very future - the BIG one.

    When Michael Slater & Tony Jimenez came aboard to rescue the listing ship, and then proceeded to employ one of Charlton's most favourite sons, a huge sigh of relief emanated from all parts of The Valley , and beyond. Little was known about our saviours - that's exactly what they were - and some were understandably sceptical about their credentials but no-one could deny that by the end of May 2012, they had done exactly what it said on the tin....and we were over the moon....both as a group and individually. This is a strong element within the Charlton family, you need to understand.

    But, this is Charlton.

    So, when several different Lifers learned from various sources that there could be problems behind the scenes, hearts sank. Surely nothing could go wrong now ! And being Lifers, they felt they had to share their worries with others just as we had shared our excitement and sheer joy only a few weeks earlier. A problem shared etc... and the rest is history. There were doubters as to the validity of the information shared ; there were those who tried to analyse the reasons for the possible problems and there were those who had not the slightest doubt that all was not well in the state of Denmark for whatever the reasons- that said Lifers were totally to be trusted regarding the information they had been given.

    Not sure how long you have been a member on here, RoytheBoy, but the wellbeing of our beloved Club is paramount. NO-ONE jokes or lies about it - it's an unwritten rule. So when trusted friends are the bearers of bad news, you believe it....and scream in unison. That's the way it is for me, anyway. So, you see, to suggest that "false rumours" have been started is tantamount to blasphemy in my book . These guys are Charlton through & through & hence would do NOTHING to harm their Club. They do nothing BUT support their team and get behind them. It's because of people like this that you have a team to support ! And they and their ilk will do everything in their power to ensure there is a team for your children and grandchildren to get behind too: that's the reason for their concern these past weeks, believe me.

    So, maybe it's worth reconsidering your post and responding accordingly.

    Or maybe you just don't "get it" - just not true Lifer material....sorry !

    Charlton Loyal thread wasn't a spat with anyone on here. People on that forum said I was a coward for not posting my opinion on there so I simply said I'd happily answer any questions they might have for me.

    So far I've had an emoticon (?) and someone asking me why I'm called Redskin.

    Hardly a spat or the stuff of a 'keyboard warrior .'
