How do you think Chris Powell is thinking?

  • Green or Waggy will I am sure depart, Green imo, which is a shame as I like both and I don't think Green has shown what he is really capable of.
I would be surprised if Danny Green left to be honest. He's been in and around the first team all season. Some would argue that he's our best right midfielder (though I know some wouldn't too).

Think we would be making a mistake letting him go.

I'd keep him over Wagstaff... he has a much better ball in. Not sure if Waggy has a lot except stamina and pace... if I was a left back I'd much rather play against him than Green.

Saying that, I imagine we'll retain both.
  • I could honestly see Bover having the breakthrough year - Wilson can be adde dto the right midfielder list as he can play there too.
  • For a club in Charlton's position - serious cash flow issues; new boys in the division and seeking to upgrade - aiming to have "two first teamers for each position" is barking mad. Players will get injured and/or suspended for sure, but there's always the option to blood a youngster for the odd game and for longer absences the loan market provides insurance. It might be different if there was a real chance of promotion, but the real first team needs to be good enough for that.
  • I said months ago to bring Wilson in as right back behind green , they know each others game , have played with each other before maybe scp reads these after all . Also green has 2 yrs left on his contract so unless a prem club comes in for him I can't see him going anywhere. Wilson and green combo will be better than solly & wagstaff . Wilson can play in many positions would be a good utility player good luck to him.
  • Sullivan is the only one there who I wouldn't have anywhere near the first team if an injury came up. The other back-ups look relatively solid.
expect to see a young continental keeper come in v soon

U want to drop SOLLY Our POTY!

I don't know what's more amusing, dropping Solly or suggesting a prem club might come in for Green

Swindon are allegedly in for him. I don't think they're Prem :-)
  • Could Powell be looking at a 4-3-3?

  • Also, didn't Green and Wilson play together when they were about 15? So I don't imagine they'll be too familiar with each other's game these days.................
  • Could Powell be looking at a 4-3-3?
He's already played 4-3-3 several times during matches, particularly towards the end of last season.

I would guess that it's just one formation up his sleeve, that he can put into action for games or parts of games.
  • Seeing as green was ill for a chunk of last season, I think it would be good to see what he can do when 100%.
  • I'm sure he was 100% for plenty of games last season.

How much of last season was he actually ill?

Waggy was almost always available so it's hard to believe he was ill for a large part of the season.

I know its the Championship, but more and more teams are adopting the 4-3-3 / 4-5-1 when defending tactic.

So for instance it could be

    -----------Hamer-----------
    Solly---Cort----Morrison----Wiggins

    ----------Hollands-------
    ----Stephens------Jackson

    Green------------L/W / Cook
    ----------Kermorgant-----
  • I know I'm known for being the doom and gloom merchant on here so I will continue here..that team Dizzle would get relegated for me.

Obviously that is with our current squad to this day. We may buy / loan some better players. Im just wondering whether Powell will stick to 4-4-2 or try to lean towards the modern 4-3-3 / 4-2-3-1 formations we see

Im bored. As you can tell
  • I think he'll stick with the 4 4 2 to start with give the BWP and Kermagant combo a chance and if it dosen't work then we might see the 4-3-3 introduced.

  • I didn't suggest dropping solly , think he will be sold . Havnt seen anything about Swindon he's got 2 yrs left on his contract . Wagstaff has 1 yr left ?.

Are you mad drop Solly wow never thought I would here anyone say that.

  • I think Wilson is the best possible cover we could get for Solly and will mean that the slightest dip in form from the short one and he could get lose his place. That is exactly the sort of competition every player needs. Will also be quite a versatile option from the bench.
  • To be fair, Sullivan is the least of our worries. keepers are the least likely to pick up an injury or suspension. Also, I agree that Sullivan would probably be decent if he was given a chance. Nerves have got the better every time he's played last season.
When Sullivan was on loan to us he had a run of games and most fans were disappointed that Elliot was reinstated for the last couple of games of the season. Without reserve team games players get rusty and Sullivans lack of match time last season hindered his one off introductions to the team. However, maybe he has been told his future at the club is limited as he has asked on twitter for his highlights you tube to be re tweeted, so I am told.
