It's difficult is it not .. a team breaks all kinds of records, has gained a great spirit and confidence, the fans love the team, yet that team contains obvious weaknesses which may well be exposed at a higher level. Young players are nurtured for years through an academy yet often the pressure to win games means that there are few opportunities to 'blood' them. Far easier to bring in an experienced old trouper (or experienced young trouper come to that) rather than take a chance on a home grown debutant. A manager like Lambert has shown a ruthless side to his nature by culling 2 successful sides as soon as the succesful seasons had ended. He later of course moved on to a 'bigger' club. Chris Powell will, I suspect, give last season's winners a fair chance to show their worth next season, irrespective of any financial/ownership problems at CAFC. I hope that he will be right in doing this and that come Christmas he is not desperately seeking reinforcements.
We have to be ruthless with our transfer policy. Last season was great, and we have the nucleus of a decent Championship side, but there's a huge difference between league one and this level. The other two sides who got out of that pub league recognise that.

@Mike You're right, although it was back in May, I've just included June/July. I was impressed that they've signed De Laet from Man Utd, I thought he looked really good in that brief spell of games he had for them. Vardy from Fleetwood Town for £1m is a weird one, a million quid for a non-league striker? Chris Dickson & Stuart Fleetwood spring to mind...
