Seems to me Wolves offered him the job when they were a prem team, and some of the no-names who do get jobs (Steve Kean for instance) it seems more that Curbs just hasn't applied for many of the so called vacancies. I say so-called, because a lot are filled before the other guy is even out the door.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Curbs roll up at West Brom.

You have every right to express your opinion, but there are many phrases that are trotted out repeatedly on here that have no factual basis. This is just one of them, from what I can tell no club has ever said this, nobody in the media has said it who would actually know this is how club owners actually think, it's just repeated on here enough that it is believed. I'm sorry for questioning this blind belief. You didn't state it as an opinion, you stated he'd been out the game too long for a prem owner to appoint him. If that was just your opinion then at least make that clearer, otherwise don't be surprised when somebody asks you where you head no prem owner wants him because he's been out the game too long.

Haven't read any other posts but am not surprised at this news.
I look at Villa as an "also ran" type of Premier Club these days - nothing to get excited about, no special players, dull as ditchwater and |I think their finishing position sums them up.
Shame that such a "big" old Club is nosediving ...Maybe need a big name Manager to turn them around.
Does no one else think he's a touch unlucky, having had Darren Bent injured for a fairly lengthy amount of time? They'd more than likely have picked up an extra 'few' points if he was fit...

Sadly that is a managers lot, if the luck is against you, nobody says give him another season he was unlucky. Now if you are a legend ... cue dalglish
If Bent had been fit, they'd have been higher and maybe McLeish would still be in a job. Since he got injured in early Feb, think they have only won 1 game and having to rely on Heskey and Agbonlahor for goals shows how weak they are without Bent.
Losing Petrov in March also meant they had to rely on youngsters, feel a bit for McLeish but his negative style of football would have tested the patience of any Villa fan regardless of his Brum connections.
They don't have a great deal of money to spend but there are some good solid Premiership players there, one or two good additions and they could be back in the top half.
How funny would it be if the job went to Steve Bruce!
the 'unlucky' mcleish managed a 21% win ratio with villa and the worst home record in premiership history, collecting 19 points...and the football they played was boring too apparently....as their fans said 'its not where you came from, it's where you're taking us'...I'd say he's not all that as a premiership manager imo.

But with lambert being hot property would he want to go to a club who dont want to spend and no real talent beyond Bent and Ireland. Just think he shud wait out for a better job, as norwich just seem to have more about them in terms of quality and the way the club is run
I would still say Villa have a better team than Norwich though, just McLeish is awful. I'm sure Lambert would take the likes of Makoun, N'Zogbia etc at Norwich in an instant. Maybe about the way the club is run but I think Villa will back their next manager if the wage bill has been trimmed a bit as even though O'Neill was great, they paid so much money to rubbish players like Habib Beye.

Lambert is a very disloyal man, he dropped Colchester like a sack of spuds to get the Norwich job. I could see him being tempted easily by Villa which is idea for him. If it all goes wrong he can justifiably say they were a club in decline, if he can turn things around he'll be praised as a hero.
Trouble is villa regard themselves as a 'big club', and without Bent they have been lucky not to get relegated. The ex manager was never going to be accepted by the villa fans, the rivalry is intense beetween villa and blues fans.

Bit like Arsenal supporters, the season has been a 'failure' as the gap beetween them and spurs has not only narrowed but possibly eclipsed.
