it is always disappointing to have your opening batsman out early especially when in our case its our captain. still roach looked really good for those last couple of overs.
The whole idea of a night watchman does my head in.
It's cowardly of the proper batsmen you ask me. Do not see the point of it
Today is the perfect example of the nightwatchman... We have very little time left in the day, the light is getting poor, the weather is predicted to be much better tomorrow, and therefore, you would hope, batting would be easier - therefore the idea is that you want your real batsmen to be facing more balls in condition that favour batting rather than facing more balls than favour bowling. Simples really. !
Now see how I would look at it is... You've got a handful of overs left, it could get on top a tad, light isn't great sooo
Put your best men for the job out there, it gives too much of a psychological boost to take a wicket allbeit a nightwatchman late in the day and makes it even more stressful for the proper batsman that does come out, in this case Trott. Who in my opinion was very lucky to stay at the crease.
Besides anything else, Anderson is our main man with the ball and I wouldn't risk his hands over Trott's!
Hard to say Trott was lucky to still be there, as the ball hit him outside the line. Yes it was close, but it wasn't out!
But often I agree with you about nightwatchmen, but today was the perfect time to use one, and now we have Cook and Trott starting tomorrow, on what should hopefully be a nice day for batting. If we hadn't used Jimmy then they would have had even more balls at Trott this evening, and who knows he could have gone too as they were bowling very well in tricky conditions. If they had got Strauss and Trott tonight then they would really have been in the driving seat, but with it only being Jimmy that was out we have every chance of knocking the runs off comfortably tomorrow.
I'm sure there will be a few more twists & turns before its all over. I'm expecting an England win, but not before a few anxious moments .............Broad & Prior to see us home.

WIndies bowled very well there, I'm pretty certain the batsmen will be happy to be walking off here

181 to win.
really thinking about popping down there tomorrow now.
Going to be a thrilling day tomorrow
It was a sweet delivery, I agree. Just when I'm looking back at it I'm frustrated with Strauss more than I am in awe of the delivery
