Anyone else feel flat now the seasons over?

edited May 2012 in General Charlton
This season from early pre-season right up to last Saturday has been so brilliant that I feel kind of empty now its all over.

I just wish it could have gone on and on!

  • Yep, I'm with you there. League 1 - I just wanted it to go on an on.
  • I don't mean I want League 1 to go on and on, just the high from winning 30 games and breaking all those records.

  • I know ;-)
  • Nah. I was just watching the videos of the red devils coming into land - brings it all flooding back!
  • Despite a great season, I feel deflated knowing that never again will we enter the paint pot trophy.
  • I do feel a bit flat. Its likely to be the most excessively perfect, winning season we will ever see at Charlton in terms of wins and dominance.

I am excited about the Football over the Summer though (playoffs, Euros, Olympics etc)
  • Still buzzing!
  • I feel majorly flat to be honest! I expected to have lots more free time once the season was over, but on the contrary; I'm now waiting for the shirt sponsers to be announced, keep looking up transfer rumours and so on!

It's also strange how much I've grown to like the players (and obviously SCP) - watching interviews on iPlayer, seeing goal videos on Youtube etc.. It feels quite sad that I wont be spending another Saturday standing in the Covered End for another view months..!
  • Sort of. No doubt I'll never see a season like it by way of success but I'm hoping.
  • A little, I'll get a lot more sleep now it's over.

  • Still buzzing from last Saturday! Find myself singing "Valley Floyd Road" and "We are the Champions" most of the day :-O
  • No.

Perhaps I will on Saturday when I don't have an excuse for supping ale.
  • It takes a few weeks to kick in for me.
  • for all the europhoria and what we have achieved this season and undoubtedly it was amazing, when i realise that the prize is to be back competing with chuff like palarse and millsmall it shows just how low we had sunk....
i want the premiership now !
  • basking in the afterglow
  • Didn't want the season to end. Haven't felt like this for a long, long time.
  • need the fixtures out to see that we're going to play against football clubs rather than pub teams

haha, welcome to the past few months for me! My mother questioned me on humming the "heartbeat theme song", I've got my girlfriend singing VFR at random times and when I'm alone (or in the shower!) it's like being back in the Covered End.. ;)

At the moment I seem to be stuck in some form of limbo, waiting for the transfer window to kick off so I have another excuse to be glued to the OS.. Then the fixtures list will be up and I'll be busy with my diary and my railcard looking at good away days to go to..

It's as if there isn't really an end to the football season; just a "football memories break" followed by a "football planning break"!

    Me too!

Spent an hour last night watching the Youtube videos, and reliving it all again.

  • Keep re-living last Saturday and the sponsors' dinner too - a fantastic end to the season. Didn't get to as many matches this season as usual for various reasons, so it doesn't feel that long to wait till the new season - and with Euros, Olympics and couple of foreign breaks inbetween, I'm sure the time will fly. Hoping the high continues for a while yet!
  • Got stuff to do over the summer to take my mind off football - Le Mans 24 hour race, niece's wedding, some car shows to attend with my old motor. Then back at the Valley!

Thanks go to the Olympics for delaying the start of the season, otherwise my niece's wedding may have interfered with my attendance at the first game.
  • Still feels a bit surreal, the whole season did for me tbh. Not sure it has fully sunk in what this team has actually acheived. I think the fact that there is still other football being played and the Euros to look forward to helps a bit.
  • A bit, but the rush of this season, in more ways than one, the excitement and the speed in which it has come to an end will see me through to August.
  • No but I do feel FAT now the seasons over
  • After the play off win, I was on a massive high throughout the summer.

This time it has been a challenging year for me personally and meant that I couldn't go as often as I would like. I was able to go more games in the run in and I guess I wish there were chance to celebrate with the team.

I know the club have decided not to do a civic reception but that would have been a nice end for me.

Roll on signings and next season I guess.
  • When the new season kicks off we'll wonder where the time went and all the emotion will return at the first home game.
  • For the 1st time in many many years, I'm really looking forward to buying the end of season DVD, there have been so many victories I've forgotten about half of them!

Pre-ordered! Perhaps then I can stop hammering youtube!
  • I said this to someone yesterday, after weeks of logging on here and the OS it seems flat with nothing to wait for.
