The NPower League 1 Trophy

edited May 2012 in General Charlton
Been wondering about the trophy as it's new, i.e not old like the championship one, which is the original first division (pre-premier) one.

I heard somewhere that it's a new trophy every year and is kept by the winners permanently. Someone else said we get a replica and give the original one back.

Anyone know for sure about this?

  • Not sure but I do remember hearing that a new one is made every year
Saw on the news that it was made somewhere in Kent this year.
  • My best mate's dad's company made the trophy at his silversmith's in Evegate, just outside Ashford.
  • The trophy changes when the sponsors change so I think this is only the second year since nPower took over.

Even if er don't get to keep the trophy I'd imagine we'd be given a replace, or be lowed to order our own to be made. There are strict rules about the European Cup. The club is allowed to have a replica made that is, from memory, no bigger that 4/5ths of the original. Real Madrid have 9 of them in their museum/trophy room.

Sorry fir the triva, but thought it might she'd one light. I would imagine, however, that none of the clubs that win the 3rd division decide, on cost grounds, not to pay for a replica to be made.
