See you next season Addicks

edited May 2012 in General Charlton
I'm delighted to say we shall be seeing each other next season. We've had our banter this season and most of its tongue in cheek as all banter usually is. I'll be hoping to come down to the valley again next season, cant wait. Anyway, I'm sure we can both offer each other congratulations, you were worthy winners with a fantastic points tally and us having not lost for 14 games. I know you'll probably be cheering the rapist sympathisers on in the play-offs but I'd rather see Stevenage go up, it would be an amazing achievment.

The Championship looms for both of us, I'll keep an eye out on how you strengthen over the long summer, and it will be a long summer.

Anyway now we can all put our feet up and watch England make a right old mess in the Euro's and of course the Olympics. Goodbye for now Addicks. See you next year.

Hamish.

  • Congratulations Hamish, would of preferred you to go up as I think united supporting Evans is a disgrace. I'll also be cheering for Stevenage in the play offs, see you next season and good luck
  • Personally I can't wait to go back up to your decaying ground next year for another three points.

Congrats to you on promotion! You deserved it after your end of season run! Let`s hope next season is just as good for us all and I have a sneaky feeling for MK Dons in the play-offs!
  • Cheers for the kind words, see you all next season.
  • Yeh, you did brilliantly in the last 10, in fact all top 3 did. TBF not bothered how Blades do now, just wanted them to keep you off 2nd spot. Congrats anyway, you clearly deserve it.
  • Congratulations - you've been good all season and incredible the last dozen games or so.
The Blades have 90 points and even more goals so certainly deserve promotion on that basis.
  • Congratulations Owls. The table doesn't lie, you deserve it! See you next season.
  • Congratulations, as it turned out replacing Megson with Jones was a master stroke, whereas other teams (Wolves, Huddersfield, Leeds, Preston) did similar changes and stayed the same or got worse!

I've said on another thread that the timing of the Evans trail and sentencing had a massive effect on the promotion race, as United stuttered right at the end when they looked favourites for automatic after Evans was sentenced, but Wednesday had to be there to take advantage and they did.

  • Nice one Hamish and congratulations on promotion. It's been a brilliant season and to go up the way you did made the end of season games a bit more interesting. Enjoy your celebrations.

Brilliant run in by Wednesday. Great turnaround after the laboured performances under Megson. Dave Jones an inspired appointment. Hope the more acerbic comments by supporters of both clubs can end now. We're both great clubs who did not deserve to be in League 1.
  • Well done to swfc, getting rid of megson was the right thing to do

When I look at the league I cant really take in how hard to accept it must be for the remaining 2 to finish on that number of points and not go up or win the league

Really does show how great our season was

  • A well deserved promotion by wednesday after that run in they had. I just felt they would nick it cos of the Evans sentence affecting sheff utd. I wonder if dave jones can continue his magical affect in the championship though? we will see...
  • 14 games unbeaten yet still finished eight points behind Charlton. Massive effort by you lot though. Semedo and Big Mig will be found out next season but well done on your second place. Disgrace Sheff U have not yet condemned Evans. See you next season.

He's said the aim is back to back promotion which makes me feel sick with excitement. But the reality will probably kick in soon, its s tricky league but with the right investment which we should recieve who knows. I'd put your lot in a similar bracket as far as investment goes.
  • I guess we have to be grateful to both Sheffield clubs for pushing us all the way to 100 points
  • Fair play to Wednesday - they put together a tremendous run to nick second spot and had a huge attendance yesterday - it must have been a great day for them. Congratulations are due...see you next season!

There's no doubt about it Hamish, you had a fantastic run-in under Jones, which I didn't expect at all, and all credit to you. It's a pity we had some run-ins with some Wednesday fans, but it takes all sorts. I certainly believe that both you and your bitter rivals ought to be at least a division higher because of your fan base. But in the end we all get there based on what we do on the pitch, and you did it, and with some style in the end. I'm proud that when the pressure came from the Steel City we stepped up another gear, because that was some pressure. If you believe some people on this board we were going to cave in.
Personally I'm a Mandaric-sceptic. I think he's a wrong 'un, and I think he plays up the money he has behind him. Our lot do the opposite, in fact I suspect our biggest financial backer may not be named as a director, but may be providing loans which could be converted to equity when he thinks the money's been put to good use. Be that as it may, we have at least three people on the Board who are key players: Jiminez, Slater and Murray. As far as I know, you have just Mandaric.
Well lets see how the summer pans out, by all means come back in August and hold me to account.
Enjoy the feeling, see you next season.
  • GL see you next season. And we won't be cheering sheffield utd on, surely we'd cheer on Stevenage for easier opposition next year.
