    High scores, four over 8.00!
  • Not sure if just me, but pages 3 and 4 do not appear correctly.

Rest is great stuff as usual Lancs.

Thanks - On my desktop they appear fine but I don't know about other platforms, let's see if anyone else has similar problems.

58 points at this stage last season and -2 goal difference ... what a stunning difference!

cheers LL as always ... this has been a great read all season
  • we 've out pointed brighton, soton and norwich

i'd have put my house on it we wouldn't

    unbelievable performance unbelievable
  • Is it wrong that I'm a little concerned that Leon Cort could end up our highest rated player when he'll only have played a maximum of 11 games?
Don't get me wrong, I'm loving his work - in fact I think he's done so well that every time we get a corner I bellow "GO ON LEON!" because I think he deserves a goal for his awesome efforts so far - but with us feeling so joyful lately and, so it seems, marks being more generous as a result of this, it doesn't quite sit right that he could rate higher than virtually season-long performers such as Yann, Morrison and (potentially) Solly.

No big deal, but just a thought.
  • @lordromford

At the end of the season, we break down the players not just by marks, but also appearance buckets. I can't access at the mo what we've done for the last couple of years, but in order to win player of the year a player has to play something like a minimum of 25 games. So Leon will not be able to win.
  • Good answer!
    Cheers AFKA.
  • did racon win it thru the ratings last year .............
  • Yes, 37 apps average score of 6.467.

Anyinsah, Solly, Sullivan, Parrett, Eccleston and Stewart (remember him) all scored higher but with less than 25 apps.

  • did racon win it thru the ratings last year .............
Yes he did with an average of 6.467, closely followed by Elliot with 6.464
  • 16 defeats at this stage of the season , last season ,compared to 5 this season!
  • I think we and anybody else should underestimate this side at their peril. Yes, we have ground out some results after Christmas but that is a positive. We have also trounced a number of teams. BWP may have struggled in the second half of the season but, he has fought through it -I can't forget what a complete and natural Striker he looked in the first half and can see him being just as potent again next season. In Wiggins we have a genuine top left back and Solly has been a revelation. Morrison looks class- his levels have dropped slightly of late but it is a long season and these players jave played a lot of games whjere they have been there to be shot down. You can go through most of our players, Kermogant, Hollands, Hamer and see much room for optimism next season. I expect 3 to 4 additions and with what we have, well if you can't get excited by that given what SCP has shown, you have a problem. We are going to be one of the promotion possibles next year, of that I am really confident.

And throughout this glorius rebirth of the club we love -LLs brilliant stats have provided an informative backdrop. Well done, thanks for the read and the time it must have taken you. I look forward to reading next seasons. COYRs.
  • Thanks for the kind words Muttley, you will also have the bumper end of season stats to keep you going until next season.
  • Cheers LL.

Hi LL - how about a look at the North/South split in our results??

MOST NORTHERN HALF: Bury, Carlisle, Hartlepool, Huddersfield, Oldham, Preston, Rochdale, Scunthorpe, Sheff Utd, Sheff Wed, Tranmere
Chesterfield - could be in either section - but given we are southern I guess they should be in the northern section.
MOST SOUTHERN HALF: Bournemouth, Brentford, Colchester, Exeter, Leyton Orient, MK Dons, Notts County, Stevenage, Walsall, Wycombe, Yeovil

    So far, for example:

80% of our defeats (100% of home defeats) have been to "southern" teams, but 80% of our draws (100% of home draws) have been to "northern" teams.
  • LL good job again, it's always interesting to see how my view compares with ( or differs from ) other Lifers.

And if you are not busy, what about source of goals (eg set pieces vs open play, head vs feet, location) - only if you have nothing better to do !!
  • All suggestions gratefully received:
Salad - can do, I'll look at it and see how it pans out
Lo fi - Don't have the information, even if I did have the time !

Good call. As much as I love Johnnie Jackson I fear he lacks the pace required at the next level. I genuinely believe (having had a season ticket at Ipswich Town until beginning of this season because I've been coaching local football and not been able to get back to the Valley until this season) that Danny Haynes could play a major part. He has exceptional pace, is very strong (which is a must at Championship level) and his heart lies with Charlton - all the ingredients for a result. His cross to Kermogant last Saturday on his wrong foot - having skinned the defender, firstly for pace and then with a dummy, was top drawer.
