  • PFA just need to say solly
  • Is this on the tele at some point?

PFA have really screwed up by allowing Evans to be named in that team. They would have had time to intervene once the verdict was known.
  • The PFA should have only named ten players and left Evans out.
I wouldn't have wanted them to do that, because for ever more it would draw attention to him. The sooner his name is forgotten, the better. I think the right decision would have been to replace him with any of the following: Madine; BWP; Beavon; Kermorgant.
  • No way should Evans recieve any recognition of any sort whatsoever. The PFA should hang their heads in shame.
  • let's not forget that this is Player of The Year, not player of the season, and is voted for in January. Still think Solly should be there though.
  • It's not, the PFA bloke was on Talksport the other day, the last votes were cast a week and a half ago. He was saying very clearly these awards are about the season, not the calendar year. Apparently a third of players don't bother voting.
  • i agree on all sentiment re Solly, best RB in league 1, but tbh anything that lowers his profile with the big boys will only help us hang onto him for another season.
  • Hunt is 5' 9'' so must be a better player
  • These award always have a lot to do with profile. I, for one, am not unhappy that Mr Solly continues to fly under the radar for a little bit longer. For me Kermogant is by far the best forward player in the league, and could probably be one of the best in the league above, but these things tend to pick the two highest scorers for the forward positions, and that's never going to be his thing. 4 out of 11 players were from our team, so I don't think we can be too indignant, particularly when the team that may well come second hasn't got any.

On a final note, I can't see an issue with Evans being included. It's done on, on-pitch merit, not moral grounds. I hope that anyone anyone who's indignant about his inclusion was not enjoying a good old sing-song of "She Said No", on Saturday.

  • These are always a bit of a joke. You must remember that they are judging on probably only have played against them once in a season by the time they vote. How is a Hartelpool centre half going to make an educated choice between Solly and Hunt.
However it shows our strength when we have 4 players in, but the 2 players I expect to top the POTY polls are included!

Can't imagine a prime-minister of the country being elected by a vote in which two thirds of the country participated in. Stupid system, though.
  • Silly. Never heard of this Hunt fella, poor Solly.

Shame for Chris, but as others have said, best not to take it too seriously.

Wendies obvious getting steamed up about having no players in the team, but for once Owlstalk has lightened up a bit - bits of this quite amusing (I thought)

e.g.: Tonight just spare a thought for poor Danny who is probably on his way back to his Hilton Hotel, distraught at the injustice which has been done. I feel sorry for Batth, he's done nothing wrong. #JusticeForBatth #PrayForBatth

  • Well done to the 4 players who made it. Richly deserved.

I thought we might match the 5 that made the team of the year in 1999/00, but it wasn't to be (Solly was robbed!).

  • Danny Batth 'Bart' ‏ @Danny_Batth
I would just like to thank EcclesallOwl who is providing fantastic support for me during a very difficult time in my life. I hope to put this traumatic experience behind me as soon as I can and I pray that justice is done as soon as possible. Once again, thank you EcclesallOwl

    LOL
  • I'm a bit dumbfounded that Solly wasn't in that team too. It isn't the fact he is the best right back in the league but more that he is the best by some considerable distance.
  • Nice to see 4 Charlton Players making the team but Solly's exclusion is ridiculous especially as he seems likely to be our Player of the Year.
  • Solly should be in there, goes without saying. IMO the best player in the whole league is Yann Kermorgant, and he's not made the cut which is strange, seems they've based the front line on Goals.

  • Crazy that Solly's not in there but the voting may have been close and Hunt's got quite a high profile, having been around longer than Chris.

Unfortunately i wanted to think this but this is his debut season with huddersfield and is only 21, having only a period on loan with chesterfield last year too. I cant help but think solly has been very unfairly treated, maybe he was too good for the voting.

  • Also love the comments on league 1 X1 on skysports, each player has a write up and ched evans gets a short statement including how he has disgraced himself by being jailed for rape
  • Will Evans be getting his award before the start of the last home game of the season ??

How insensitive is the Football League ...........who ever sent that out should be ashamed ..

  • to be fair in all reality it should have been: Hamer, Solly, Morrison, Cort, Wiggins, Wagstaff, Stephens, Hollands, Jackson, BWP, Kermo
  • Quite strange on Downatthemac the thread seems to relate to peole slagging off Hunt for being useless and others defending him. Personally I cannot remember him. Only opposition defender to really stand out was the Rochadle centre half and look where they are
  • Sorrry but Taylor has played more games than Cort so should be ahead of him there

    apologies red
  • Think the reason Sollys not in there is because he's not a flashy player and his strength is defending. In one off games this won't catch the eye so much as the full-back who goes haring down the wing but ee know how consistant he is after watching him over a season. Don't remember Hunt but seems he is the more attack minded player and we know Wiggins strengh is more as a attacking full-back rather than a definsive one.
  • I think the forms go out to the clubs around December, and have to be submitted back in January...something like that. Chris Solly keeps getting better and better, particularly so in the latter half of the season. perhaps that was why he didn't spring to mind in the thoughts of his fellow pros mid season.

They have till the end of March to vote.

  • It's hard to judge these things, like most people i'm surprised Solly isn't included, but then also surprised Hamer was included, it's as if the L1 players just looked at the number of clean sheets we got and presumed they were all down to him.
Not so surprised about Yann, naturally the 2 best goalscorers got the votes, when in reality if you were building a team, you'd have one goalscorer (Rhodes) and one support striker (Yann)
