I just stood there

edited April 2012 in General Charlton
At the end of the match I stood up and drank it all in. All of a sudden I was not alone. I had gone to the game at the last minute, I had scrambled together the train fare, the £25 to get in and I just stood there with tears welling in my eyes. Next to me were my Grandfather and my Grandmother, my errant favorite uncle who had taken his love for the Addicks all around the world with him. They were there with me and suddenly I was with them celebrating a wonderful achievement. Emotion overtook me and I realised, Addicks never die.

Relegation to this division was confirmed the day my father died on April 18 2009 against Blackpool.

Today felt good and I thought of him.

  • I just wish I could have been there today. Champions!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  • Tears of joy today. It just felt right today. Thank you CAFC.
  • Told my son enjoy today, we've deserved it after the last few seasons and days like today don't come around often as a cafc fan. Not sure he quite got it, he's 6. Jumping up and down at the end though like loon, great feeling. Guess the lows of the last few years make it sweeter and with SCP at the helm double sweeter.
  • thanks dad for taking me to my first game at the valley in 1975 when i was nine this was for you .
