  • Have to laugh, we win the league and hardly anyone can be bothered to post anything !
Don't you know the voice has been on Afka! :-0

  • I never thought we'd be 20 points ahead of Huddersfield with 2 matches to play. Sorry, just a random thought
  • 100% CHAMPIONS !
  • 100% CHAMPIONS !
Waited so long to see that :-)

Been waiting myself to see it for what seems like an eternity

I have known and said it loads on here but even as it was confirmed on tv and radio I still wouldn't let myself believe it until the man himself put it on here

Going to get it tattooed on my balls

  • I thought the end was a bit daft & contrived. We still have one more home game to do a lap of honour so what was that all about ?
    Jesus...*Shakes head in disbelief*

Agree, weird to be 10 clear of 3rd, 20 clear of 4th and 30 clear of 7th!
  • Finally home, completely drained but so worth it. We done enough today, could have easily been five if we'd put our chances away but who cares. Always looked solid, could have stepped it up a gear if needed but a win was never in doubt IMO.

Cort the pick of the team for me today, absolutely superb. Thought Pritch & Stephens also has very good games. Would have liked Stephens to push on a bit more, fortunately he did when it counted but thought Pritch pushing on prevented him doing so at times. Quality goal from Dale and well Yanns FK, is there anything this man can't do? Really felt for BWP missing his two chances as he got himself in great positions, hopefully won't get him down too much.

Would like to see a couple rested next week, fresh for the final game to finish the season with a real bang. Quality atmosphere and great seeing the entire ground standing for the champions after the 2nd goal went in!

Cracking day, so glad we finished it off! Hope the boys are celebrating again tonight!

Still can't believe we lost to Colchester and Notts County

  • the best team in the league won it

  • But my MOM was The Man Himself, Sir Chris Powell . His spirit has been imbued into every one of those players to have donned the shirt this season . They each take a small part of him onto the pitch every time they step out ; his work ethic, his passion, his professionalism and his bravery. He has made them into a winning team and as we do, I'm sure they all love him to bits . We should all count ourselves lucky to have this man at the helm of our ship . Long may it last !

    Onwards !

This is brilliant FF. very well said! choked me up a bit!

  • I've believed we could be champions since Huddersfield at home (which I watched in a Prague pub). But there were loads of nerve shredding Saturdays since then listening to radio commentaries as we held on to a one goal lead. Its been a long journey, but it was fantastic to be there, amongst all the Valley Party gang. I wondered if the great days had gone forever. Today was a great day.

  • I thought the end was a bit daft & contrived. We still have one more home game to do a lap of honour so what was that all about ?
Yeah we should have all gone home five minutes from time the day we won the title ? what a strange thing to say.
  • Well. I'm 18 and I like to think I'm as hard as nails but when "we are the champions" came on, I just wanted to cry with joy! This is an amazing day for me and for everyone.

Don't understand the fans in the east who were leaving at the final whistle and before, us lot in the west were going mental (by west stand standards of course). I mean, the old boy who spends 90 minutes of his Saturdays moaning was dancing! That's hoe you know it was good!

Pritchard edges mom just before kermorgant and cort.. everybody else was nowhere near them.

Fair play to Wyecombe. Struggled but never gave up.
  • We looked at times like a side that had been on the sauce a fair bit in the last week. Still had enough chances though to have made it a lot clearer victory.

All irelevent though, great atmosphere for the last 20 and at the end. Did have a little chuckle at all the old crinklies in the East leaving on 87 mins. How you can go through the last few years and not want to see the celebrations at the end makes me chuckle.

Well done everyone. Feels great to celebrate something in The Valley
I was in the East - I never ever ever leave before the end.

Great occasion - excellent effort from Wycombe who clearly we're up for it.

I thought we were a little flat - who can blame the players after the heroics of last week?

I thought Hamer had a decent game so did Cort.

My MOM was Yann who played tirelessly - scored one and headed the ball down for Stephens to score the winner.

As for the rest, Solly was OK and was Morrison. Wiggins was a little below par. Jacko battled well but neither Stephens (despite his goal) nor Waggy had very effective games. Pritchard worked hard and BWP could have scored two or three.

Overall though it was fitting to win the league at home. Watching the togetherness of the team and the manager was really stirring stuff.

    Fantastic season.
  • Anyone else find it a bit odd that having won the toss, JJ chose to kick the 'wrong' way?
  • Thought we looked tired (hungover) for a lot of the match but still could have scored 4 or 5.

Good performances from Morrison, Solly, Cort, Hamer, Pritchard and Yann the rest were fairly average but we did what we had to do, it doesnt matter now as those that arent playing quite so well at the moment have earned it over the season.

Great to actually clinch something at The Valley and with a win, thought the celebrations were handled really well at the end by BDL even if he did say 'a certain' a lot :)

Looking forward to party day against Hartlepool.
  • It was a wonderful occasion with the team perhaps not living up to their own incredibly high standards yesterday. The bedrock of our season, two wonderful full backs looked under real pressure but once again we ground out a result.
The transformation this season has been incredible, when I went to the pre season game at Woking you could tell that something was different and we have just grown and grown from there.
Today was all about celebrating, the Champions twist just made it even better. Charlton mean more to me than they probably should, and this bunch of players and management have given the Club back to me.
Well done Charlton and all involved including all supporters

There is no pleasing some people. Confirmed as Champions is a pretty good reason to celebrate with everyone! And what gets my goat is when people say it is only League One, nothing to get excited about, we shouldn't be here in the first place? Please enjoy it for what it is, a fantastic season.
  • Best run of the day came from the lad who led the stewards a merry dance giving himself up to Danny Green otherwise would have legged it back into the East stand.
Hatches were battened down after the home defeats to Colchester and Notts County. Strength of purpose ground out the subsequent results, name of the game to ensure promotion. N'Guessian could have been used yesterday and Haynes made the difference in setting up winner with a clever cross into the box instead of shooting from the angle.
Milestones are still their, chance to witness the 100 next saturday at PNE and of course the full house versus the 'monkey stranglers'.

  • A quieter time all round apart from Yann's free kick which was jaw dropping quality. I just feel incredibly proud to be part of Charlton and giddy with admiration of the team spirit that Chrissy has fostered. We, the supporters, have spent several years rambling on about giving the team time to settle, to gel, to accommodate new players, accept loanees etc. Chrissy did it almost instantly with 18 new players. That is an acchievement that I don't think I'll see bettered in my lifetime.
  • Having taken the lead and playing some superb football, we then became complacent and then hesitant. The result was that we could have lost the game but for Hamer's keeping. Equally of course we could have been out of sight if their keeper hadn't kept them in it with a number of excellent stops. As so often this season we kept going and got the win which we deserved. Good cameo from Haynes who, with Kermorgant, set up the winner. Pritchard showed yet again what a find he has been. No crunching tackles but he just nicks the ball and plays it
  • Credit to Wycombe for making a real game of it. Massive credit to the lads - 5 wins on the spin and we needed it. It has been a long hard season but I am genuinely excited about what can be achieved next.
  • haddock and chips with a saveloy treat washed down with the one and only in a glass bottle... the food of CHAMPIONS!!!

Think Pritchard could become as important to the team as Keith Jones. (No higher praise !).

  • Wycombe gave us a tough game and you couldn't complain if they got a point yesterday. Hamer made some good saves, Pritchard was impressive again others not at their best probably due to a week of celebrating which they deserve.

This team has been brilliant all season apart from 45 minutes vs Notts County, I already can't wait for next season I just want it to start now!
  • Anyone else find it a bit odd that having won the toss, JJ chose to kick the 'wrong' way?
Yes. I could not see any weather-related advantage (sun in eyes of keeper? not sure) and I think he missed a trick by not being able to kick towards the North Stand second half

Didn't we choose to kick "the wrong way" in another match recenty?
  • Prichard. Was my mom
  • I was just utterly amazed at just how good Kermogant is at knocking balls down to BWP and others, he's incredible in the air and incredible at frustrating defenders .. and the FK, I fancied a shot and didnt expect that! thought JJ would have had a hit and hope.
