Bad news for Saturday.....

Charlton have refused permission for Wycombe to play Gary 'The Rock' Doc.

Do we want to win this league or what ?

  • I am gutted about this, if he played for them as he used to for us the game would be over inside 20 minutes
  • shame, don't really understand this.
  • Phew AFKA , i wondered what you were going to say...

Maybe he could play for us , to give Morro or Cort a rest? :-0
  • We've still got a league to win, and Docs been there best centre half while he's been on loan. Them the break for Wycombe
  • I was of the understanding that it's a league ruling that loan players are not allowed to play against their contracted club anyway?

Am I thinking of an old ruling or is dementia coming quicker than I anticipated?
  • Doc and Basey at the back. Every forwards dream.
  • dont think it was a ruling, it can be included or omitted as part of the contract between the 2 clubs I thought....
  • Only a rule for the Prem I think?

Outside of prem both parties agree to terms in this regard.
  • Thanks Dan, walk all over my jokes!

  • Look on the bright side. In the Doc's place will be someone so pony that he is actually keeping them out of the team! They're hardly going to be Nemanja Vidic, are they?

  • They've got a few injured defenders so they have got some problems.

Having read some Wycombe comments on the net, I get the impression they are not happy with Charlton whatsoever regarding the Hayes and Doc situations.

Think they're taking the p!ss really when you consider the fact that had we not loaned them those players in the first place they would probably be relegated already.
  • Can understand being annoyed about Hayes as he was flying for them, asking to play Doc is ridiculous. On the Hayes thing he is our player although not great for the player or them CP has to do what is right for CAFC

I can understand the frustration over Hayes. We call him back to play one game then drop him.

But he's our player and we decide where he plays. Harsh on them but that's the way it is.

  • I'm sorry for Hayes more than I am for Wycombe. Recalled, started at Hudds, banished to Coventry since. As for Doc, then I'd let him play. Reckon Basey may switch to CH to cover.
  • Personally I'd rather see Leyton Orient stay up than Wycombe and was pleased when Powell said we would play strong teams against others who were still in the mix for promotion and relegation as we owe it other teams to pick our strongest side and play well .

I know I'm in a minority but I rate the Doc if he is alongside a player who compliments him and I am pleased we turned down the Chairboys plea . Remember only two years ago he was in the L1 team of the year and was a regular in Norwich's title winning side . That said , I agree he is nowhere near as good as Cort , Morro or even Taylor . Next season he will do a job for someone like Brentford or Orient .

After this game I'd love to see some youngsters play against Preston and Hartlepool.
  • We needed to recall Paul Hayes to play against Huddersfield, as we had one of our main strikers injured and Leon Clarke out on loan.

The fact that he has been dropped since then is irrelevant really. We needed him for THAT game.

I get the impression that Wycombe are starting to lay blame away from themselves for the predicament they are in.
  • If you smell what the Doc is cooking...
