Greg Abbott interview on the BBC website.

A very good interview. Just proves how badly we need to get out of this league as well as the resources in which we have and what clubs such as Carlisle don't. What is even more spine tingling is that when he is being interviewed the team come out to the fans and the noise whilst they are interviewing is so loud the interviewer and Greg Abbott both have to speak up. Greg Abbott says that he so envious of us a club at what they have achieved today. After listening to it they are my team for the play offs got a lot of time for him, a very passionate man about his football.

Quality hearing our fans in the background

The players must of been able to hear us from the dressing room.
  • he also mentions our resources about our transfers and how we flew up - well we spent the money we made from jenkinson on our transfers mostly, and we flew up due to fans sponsoring the journey :/ some people still think we bought this years success
  • and 6 people warming up our goalie? whats that all about, sullivan gough and roberts but who else was warming him up with goalkeeper gloves on?
  • he also mentions our resources about our transfers and how we flew up - well we spent the money we made from jenkinson on our transfers mostly, and we flew up due to fans sponsoring the journey :/some people still think we bought this years success
And we know those people are wrong. We are going up as we have worked the hardest this season.
  • Lets hope that Carlisle get up if not this year through the play offs in the next couple of years. As they are our lucky team we can do with them in the same league.
  • The one thing is that we haven't just bought our success.

We lost a promising young player, but negotiated a substantial development fee.
If Carlisle and others develop good young players, then they too are in a position to trade them for funds to build a better team.

Shame that nobody told him, 5 individual fans were generous enough to meet the cost of the flight.

If the Carlisle manager can find generous supporters, then his team can also fly to away games.

And it's not the fault of CAFC that Carlisle can only attract 6,000 crowds for such an important match for them too.
  • This idea that we 'bought' success is laughable. We worked our socks off to get into the Premier League Twice. We lost lots of our prized assets following two relegations and two managers who emptied all the funds. We battled and battled for 3 hard years to get out of this league, once again selling off our best assets, only last year did it look like we may be able to spend a bit. We have paid our dues as a football club for several lifetimes, we have bought NO success we have worked bloody hard and EARNED every bit.
  • Like it or not we had a much bigger budget for wages and fees than Carlisle.

From Abbott's perspective we have had money to splash that he could only dream of.

IMHO, that doesn't undermine our success or mean we didn't work for it but relatively we were one of the big spenders in this league.

Next season, some of our fans will moan about the resources available to Leicester or Wolves or QPR. Same boot, different foot
