As the dust settles and we can all start to take in our magnificent achievement, what are the implications in terms of finances for the club? Prize money, increased payroll, bigger crowds etc etc. Does anyone have an idea of the figures involved?
I thought I'd read that the Championships tv money is reducing from £1m or 2m to £350k but that may be me thinking of the dif between champ and lge one
Solidarity payments would also increase in all three divisions. Every Championship club not in receipt of parachute payments would get £2.2 million per season, three times the £830,000 each club received this year. The payment would almost match the average annual payment to Championship clubs from the Football League of £2.4 million, taking the total guaranteed income to £4.6 million.
In 2007/8 and 2008/9, we had average crowds of over 23k and 20k respectively - if we can exceed the latter (23k seems ambitious) then it would also make a big difference, especially if it was achieved without discounting.
However it is likely that wages will rise in proportion to any increase in revenue, and we will be competing with several clubs who are in receipt of parachute money. However this did not seem to do Norwich or Southampton's chances any harm (though their Championship crowds exceed 25k).

What is our average this season? Taking out the cheap offers I'm assuming around the 16500-17K mark, is that right?
If so we are only around 3500 off the 20K average.
We have two good local derbies to look forward to in Millwall and Palace and a couple of other high profile matches - Leeds and maybe West Ham might still be in the CCC next season.
Just re read NY's earlier blog and wonder if anything in his opinion has changed or new information come to light. Perhaps it's time for a follow up piece ? I know I would like to read it. Just a thought.
With the local derbies with Millwall and Palace and the general much bigger away support in the Championship I would have thought that with the inevitable cheap offers for one or two of the less glamorous fixtures that we can average the 23 -24k mark.
The crowds in 2008/09 were massively distorted for less attractive games by the issue of very large numbers of complimentary tickets with the primary purpose of maintaining 20,000 crowds. They are not a useful benchmark.
We are unlikely to regain the 08/09 season ticket base immediately. Nevertheless, I reckon we will average 18,000-plus next season, based on up to 12,000 season tickets, 3,000-plus home match sales, 1,500 away fans and 1,500 comps.

Agree with this - it is called 'parachute' money for a reason ie. glad to have it, but better not to have jumped out of the plane in the first place.
Some astute signings from SCP we could well be challenging for playoffs! Doesn't look as though we will be spending fortunes on players.
to be fair we didn't really spend a fortune last summer but bought a lot of championship standard talent. I trust CP and the scouting network to find some gems like big yann, hollands etc on frees as well.

"A well run loss making club" as the auditors for the take over described the Club.
