Pwopa naughty fixture!! To be fair there is always trouble when they meet and Swindon would bring 1,000's. Sounds like scally being a tight arse though.
I read the other thread but thought it was only away fans ey were going to ban. I'd love to see them have th play behind closed doors. I'd also love it if we dropped leaflets throu their doors to tell them they could come and see us play instead.
Problem is fans will still turn up in large numbers trying to get into the ground and there will be grater security issues outside the grouund than in it if fans had been allowed in. Something tells me they will find a deal at the 11th hour.

Doubt that if the fans are pre-warned and told they won't be allowed in.
This must surely be against Gillinghams obligations under their membership of the football league ? I really think this is just a bargaining position from Scally, I'm sure their fans will be allowed into the ground.
The problem with Gillingham's case is that presumably the police say they need x numbers of plod in the ground and in the immediate vicinity of it and you must pay for it. But I doubt that Gillingham have much opportunity to challenge the numbers or actual charges or to use more stewards instead. It's an open cheque for plod overtime, they know it and milk it for all it's worth.
Police costs have implications for all clubs. Just look at the bonkers comments from ACC Andy Holt recently.

I can see both arguments, but the Police do have a point. I think this was an issue about Rangers and Celtic on Sky Sports News a few months ago and the estimated cost of Policing Glasgow was something like £3m a year and the clubs paid something like £300k. I'm 'quoting' those numbers from memory so they might be way off, but it does provide some backing to the demands from the Police. I also think this was an opening gambit in the Police's intention to levy other businesses in the community that seem to attract more of the issues that we also see at football. Pubs that sell cheap booze to teenagers, for example, should probably burden more of the cost of ambulances picking them up off the curb when they are so drunk they need medical assistance.
I guess the real issue is just how much of it should be paid for from the various taxes the supporters pay and how much by the football clubs themselves.
Ah, I remember now.....it was bish_bosh, what a prize twat he was, couldn't wait to get us at their place so the Jills massive could teach us a lesson we'd never forget. Love to track him down on the message boards but my guess is he's no longer around.
Seems odd Swindon are selling tickets but it is behind closed doors. Sounds daft anyway, Swindon took 2,500 to Aldershot last night and although Gillingahm is further it is a saturday
