All of the above would make me think twice about going to a Charlton away game on the coach.
My last experience was not good either.
Add in, you could be 4 minutes late due to no fault of your own and half ain't bothered to give you a few minutes or the club to provide any contact number, you get hold off to let them know you will be there in a few minutes.
Maybe the inflexibility, lack of organisation and harshness of it all puts a whole lot of Charlton supporters off from taking in away games ?
Re. The coach getting to the ground late in these rare circumstances, surely the service stop could just be reduced from the usual Ott 1hr accordingly??

I think depending of the distance to the away fixture the bus driver needs a 45 minute break. An hour at the motorway services is torture though!

You were late, so you missed the coach, I have been running on the platform for a train before, and missed it as it has a schedule to keep to. No doubt if it waited for me, missed its signal slot and ended up pulling into london bridge 10 minutes late, everyone would have complained. Tough luck, but it happens

Hardly the same is it ?
It is, you have to be there on time/early despite what happens..You can't wait for a late person, theres a schedule to stick to, tough luck but its what happens, do you think your the king of the people or something by instructing what can and can't be done in situations?

I can relate. The valentines day match vs mk dons I was running late because I missed my train. As a season ticket holder of 12 years I could not believe they kicked off before I got there.

Twats, from his opening comment it would appear Adrian is a regular coach traveller. If this is the case 5 mins Grace could of and should have been given. And if he was a regular I would have expected the steward to have realised a regular was not there. But hey ho what do I know. In Adrians position I would have been seething. Let's see what Airman finds out. But the sarcy response from Norfolk Addict is pathetic.
Feel sorry for you but why does everybody always look for someone to blame? Its going to be looked into, but what will the outcome be? I can hardly believe the driver or steward will turn around and say "yes we saw him but thought sod it" are they!? Mistakes and errors do happen, and it seems that this is what happened yesterday
I tend to be a bit of a stickler for punctuality myself. I can understand why a coach making less than half a dozen stops would be tempted to give a couple of minutes grace, but my attitude to this kind of thing has always been to make sure I'm there early, and to allow for any delays if there is much potential of them delaying me.
In fact I find it a little frustrating when I get up early to go to an away game and end up sitting on the coach for five minutes I could have been in bed because someone else failed to get to the stop at the correct time.
Where I do have to disagree with you Adrian is in coming on here and slagging off the coach service, refusing to ever use it again and all that Mate, you were late, and it could have been by more than three minutes without you knowing. You could have just emailed the club or made a more private approach to Ariman Brown, but now you have openly criticised the efforts of people working hard to provide a service. If it were not for the coach service I wouldn't have travelled to some of this season's away games.
If you'd bought a train ticket and missed the train the Rail companies (who charge much more) would have ignored any complaint you made. The club has a reputation of looking out for our fans. I think you could have held off on this thread until you heard from them. That is my opinion.
I've had a call from someone who was on the coach and has read this thread. He is adamant that the coach clock said 8.07 when they set off from Charlton. Who knows whether the clock was right, but that's what it said.
If you allow for 1 person being 5 mins late then would have to be the same for everyone if you had @ every stop 1 person your waiting for this will majorly affect everyone else and whether they will get there on time.
UL but Adrian really has no right to complain because he was late, as he wouldnt if he was late for a train, bus or flight.
some ridic posts on here tbh, he may think the coach could easily see him but obviously it didnt otherwise he probably would have used a bit of common sense and stopped!

Getting a specific coach for a specific club coach, with your name on the travel list and having forked out for the ticket for the match for a specific away some hundreds of miles, or at the other end of the country is different to getting a train, bus or plane elsewhere.
How many of those saying, you should be on time end of, get the coach ? Have you experienced it ? Maybe you would be more sympathetic, having experienced something similar.
I got some sympathy for Adrian. The club officials should ignore some of the more negative post on here and think how the situation Adrian found him could be better managed. Charlton club officials I take it want to increase the away support and grow the business ?
I don't think it is any different to be honest VFF - they tell you what time it is and sell you a ticket on that basis. He wasn't there, they left - nothing wrong done there in my opinion, in fact I think it's right that they do go as it doesn't make others late, and they had no idea if he was going to show.
At what point do you draw the line? 2 mins, 5, 10?
I have said it's a shame that they didn't see him as I'm sure they'd have stopped, but I don't think the coach steward did anything wrong by leaving on time.
And yes, I use the coaches - Valley Express and away.
I think the point is whether Adrian is a regular. During the late 80's when we used the coach on a regular basis, we knew all the regulars. If there name was down and they hadn't turned up we would have asked and expected them to have been given a bit of Grace. They were one of us. I don't know if Adrian is one of these people if he is then it's a bad show if he aint it's understandable. Our away support is no better than it was then, so if he was a regular he would have been known to be there. Some people on here who used to travel everygame in years gone by should remember that . Maybe Adrian can confirm whether he uses the service every away game.
Regardless he was LATE! for all we know he could have been over 5 mins late, noone will know but Adrian
If they was to wait then where do you draw the line to how long u have to wait? and how many stops? how often and so on
whoever it is , it is their responsibilty to get there on time and they cant complain if they're late! Noone should be given special allowances just because they go all the time or watever

My understanding from reading Adrian's post is that he was dressed in Charlton gear in sight of the coach and the coach carried on regardless.
Yes he was late but this is supposed to be a fun trip for football club supporters not a rip-off by the Irish Leprechaun or equivalent!
What is wrong with a bit of common sense and stopping for 30 seconds to let the bloke on?
Sounds like bureaucratic bloody mindedness to me and God help this country given the number of people on here that seem to condone it.
I'm not intending to single you out Johnny, having quoted you, but if the bloke is in the middle of the bloody road in full view of the coach why not let him on?!

I have sympathy, but I think it's just unfortunate the steward didn't see Adrian rather than something you can say they've done wrong.

In adrians position you would have chucked yourself under the next bus!
Pmsfl
