Wagstaff red card appeal

edited April 2012 in General Charlton
Given that the sending off was for a second yellow and you can't appeal against yellows, can Waggy's sending off be apealed?

Comments

  • No I don't think so.
  • No, you can only appeal a straight red.
  • Agreed. No appeal for second yellow no matter how stupid the outcome.
  • Can't appeal referee can recind.
  • Another example of how the game is run by idiots.
  • I might be wrong but think you can only appeal if you have proof of mistaken identity. As this was certainly not the case, no way around it.

Then, we best appeal, as I thought the bloke in black was there to referee the game.
  • Are they both one game bans ?

If so, swallow your medicine and be fresh for next Saturday. Certainly won't do Hollands any harm having a break.
  • Hollands is a three game ban for violent conduct
  • Hollands is a 3 game that will rapidly become 4 game ban if we appeal. No way it will be overturned. Utterly pointless appealing imo. You have to remember that we have appealed Hamer and Russell vs Sheff Utd (I think) and eventually the Football League are going to get pissed off with us and react accordingly.

three for Hollands 1 for Waggy = shame for Waggy, gives Green a chance to get back in

  • But if the ref was to take a look at the video of the game and admit it wasn't a yellow card, maybe he could withdraw it...............maybe not!

Agree. From the tv footage I have seen there is no way it's getting overturned. You just can't see enough.

What happens if the second yellow was actually a staright red card ? Can they appeal then ? (just a what-if)
  • I think Hollands has shown signs recently of needing a rest anyway. Seems a stupid rule that Waggy can't appeal as it was clearly an error by the incompetent ref.
  • It is a ridiculous rule about not being able to appeal a second yellow sending off.

I'm sure that someone will correct me if this already happens, but given the number of times that Charlton have tried to appeal and not been successful because the video evidence is inconclusive, isn't it about time that Charlton started putting another camera somewhere else in the ground (at home games anyway) so that these incidents can be filmed and then seen from an additional angle from that of the main camera? Could be a good coaching aid if nothing else.
  • I think together the 92 managers and 92 chairmen altogether need to come together and lobby the FA to change this rule which just stinks!
  • lol im sure there would be an appeal if it was Man United ..
  • In most countries bar Scotland , you can't even appeal a straight red , I think it is on us and the jocks that do

I think we should appeal tbh the tackle was a nothing foul a yellow at best , I still think that waggys looks a million times worse than the incident was , anyone who has played the game can clearly see he slips , but if you don't know that it looks a very clumsy tackle but he did win the ball
