To be fair regarding last season, Southampton were sensational and almost caught Brighton, and in fact Soton were probably the better side. They just had a very poor start which meant Brighton were able to cross the line with no stress.
A few months back I posted it would be good for us if the 2 Sheffield clubs made a fight of it , I believed it would focus the players minds and resolve , I was told that I would regret that quote , I haven't regretted it yet and I won't regret it , to win this league or even just get promoted when you have 2 teams like Sheffield weds and Sheffield utd showing the form and desire required at the squeaky bum end of the season will mean this promotion is hard earned and deserved
It will also do the players no harm , not just the promotion but the mental strength and toughness required to fight off the challenge , like our fans who doubt and show fear due to the history of our club and the last 6 years of shite ,
If we go up with both Sheffield sides, nobody could complain too much. There is likely to be a record number of points for third place. Huddersfield aren't as good even though they are the only top six side to beat us (so far, that could change on Saturday).
From a selfish point of view I hope so. Two more nice and easy journeys next season
To be fair, Sheff Utd should be up there, they have a bloody good striker who cost 3m+ from man city who people thought would be using them as a stepping stone to get back to the prem. of course, other things got in the way and he didn't achieve in the champ. He's certainly come good now though.
I'd prefer one of the weaker sides to go up , forward thinking The weaker the league next year the better our chances are We'll need a lot of surgery over the summer cos I don't think depth wise we're as strong as I'd like Mid table finish above palarse and millsmall to start with and lose the south london wooden spoon we've been winning with ease Before a promotion push in a couple of seasons or 3

I think the majority of fans would be more than happy with this. CP has said he only signed some players to do a job this year and can see 4-5 players being moved on and the same to come in and improve the squad.
All we know is that it will be one of them that goes up with them. People are assuming they will battle it out toe to toe but they will both be under an immense about of pressure and either could implode. I look at the statistics from the beginning of 3 points from a win and see that if you get 92 points you get promoted -usually winning the title. One or both of them isn't going to reach that total. I think Wednesday have the tougher run in but you can get a sense that United may be coming to the end of their good run. It will be interesting but I personally favour United.
TBH Len it's the small sides I fear, Stevenage and MK will be tough games for united, we have been done by Walsall (so have United and Hudd) and Carlisle are a tough prospect but we play them at home and they are by no means a decent side on the road, at home they are a different story.

It's hard to call really.
Agreed.
The only certainty is uncertainty....
Not forgetting that 'The only thing we have to fear is fear itself' (Franklin D. Roosevelt)................Good win yesterday Len (smiley face).
Walsall is a must win imo, Carlisle the following week will be a very difficult game. We don't want to be going there with our 6 point lead potentially cut to 3.
Even if you find it hard to respect the Wednesday fans, then at least give their players credit. In any other season we would probably be promoted by now considering how long we have been at the top.
On a side note, I don't think the Sheffield clubs feel 'gutted' by seeing our results. Let's put ourselves in their situation. You would be looking at that second spot only, as the team 8 points ahead with five games left are unlikely to be caught.
We're in a fortunate position where we are so far ahead that we can keep away from the mind games and immense pressure that they have.
Yes Rothko - I'm not being negative (shock horror) I think we will win. But if for some reason we don't win tomorrow and the Sheffield sides do, we will be under tremendous pressure at Carlisle.

Fancy Wed will get 2nd and Yoonited to win play offs.
We're going up with
Sheffield United

Of course they should be the top two, but there not, cause we're better, and will be worthy champions
