When is/was the deadline for five bookings to count as a suspension?
    Early February I think

EDIT: Apologies, I think 5 yellows was December 31st and 10 yellows is April 15th
  • Could Morrison play CM, with Taylor in the back 4?
Why would you do that when you have several players in Hughes, JJ, Stephens, Pritchard and maybe N'Guessan who can play CM or in midfield?

We would do that if we wanted more of a defensive balance in midfield, assuming Hughes (the obvious option) was out of the equation, as he seems to be.
Playing all three centre-halves in one match is a risk I'd rather not take, an injury, red card or suspension and we are screwed for the next match.

I thought that has long passed??

I think it's now ten yellows.
  • Will Hollands be just a one match ban? I presme Waggy's is for 2 yellows

3 (pending appeal) and 1 (no appeal) respectively
  • I thought the deadline was Marxh 31st but Today's Daily Mail did a big article on Premiership players who were walking a tightrope re susspensions............got the feeling the ban ends after Easter

According to FA Handbook it's 2nd Sunday in April so tomorrow (my third go at answering this question!!!)

Final answer: NYE - 5 yellows, Tomorrow - 10 yellows

We could always recall the Doc.

    ;o)
  • A fresh BWP should play. Green may start if he is well enough, if not possibly Haynes on the right. I think Pritchard is likely to replace Hollands.
  • Of we appeal Hollands red card and they extend the ban Monday could be his last game of the season. I really don't think that would be a good idea.

I wasn't there but the commentators sounded like it was a fair decision. If it's deemed violent conduct it will be a three game ban which means we could be champions by the time he's eligible again.

  • I'm not too bothered, we need three points as a minimum to secure promotion and probably another three/four on top of that for the title. If we can't win at least one of the last five games then it won't be because we are missing Hollands.
  • Looking at Walsall's last few results
    1-2
    2-2
    1-1
    3-1
    3-3
    3-2

They seem to be hitting some form up front, so we'll need a good defensive performance, but they look vulnerable at the back, a refreshed BWP to take advantage hopefully
  • They weren't playing against our defence in any of those games though!
  • That's probably the best run of results Wallsall have had all season!

They might score a few, but they've still let in 11 goals in 6 matches.
  • rest some:

    Hamer
    Solly Taylor Cort Wiggins
    Green Pritchard JJ Cook
    BWP Hayes
  • Hamer

    Solly
    Morrison
    Cort
    Wiggins

    Green
    Hughes
    Jackson
    Cook

    Wright-Philips
    Hayes
  • Green in and Hughes for Hollands. Bring back BWP aswell.
  • Hamer, Solly, Morrison, Cort, Wiggins, Green, Hughes, Stephens, Jackson, BWP, Kermogrant
  • Is Hughes really going to come from nowhere to the starting XI? Bench at best.
  • Put Jackson in CM, then as long as Green is well we should put him RM which gives us the balance which we need

Nicely balanced team, 3 of them come in fresh and every position covered by that 16 - though have a feeling SCP will have Haynes on the bench rather than Hughes. Suspect that Hughes may well have played his last game for us, somehow.
  • Is Hughes really going to come from nowhere to the starting XI? Bench at best.
What I think. I'd have him in if he was match fit in a shot but there is no way he is going to come straight in to the side.
  • Put Jackson in CM, then as long as Green is well we should put him RM which gives us the balance which we need
Can JJ and Stephens be relied upon to do the defensive work in midfield though? Both are ball-players not those who like to put it about.
  • I agree ISawLeaburnScore, Which is why i think Hughes would offer more bite in the midfield. Especially as looking at Walsall's latest run, which shows they can attack.
  • JJ is massively influential to us & we always miss him when he's not in the team, but I don't think he has enough pace to play central midfield
  • I wouldn't consider pace to be so important for CM - an asset if you've got it, but not vital. Quick feet, good 1st touch, vision and a good engine are probably more important.
  • Given the sucession of increasingly incompetent clowns we've had recently - one wonders who will be the ref.
