Damp report

Hello,
does anyone on here work as a surveyor or provide damp reports or quotes or anyone have any recommendations of someone to use?
We've had a homebuyers survey suggesting we get a damp specialist to check out some suspect areas on a house we're trying to buy.
House is in Sidcup.
Thanks

good one sausage. Good luck with the house.

  • Disappointed that the Homebuyers Survey hasn't told you exactly what the problem is Suzi. I would expect them to tell you what's causing the damp problem, how bad it is and what you need to put it right.

If a DPC is required then a free quote from 1990s dad is a good start. If you do go ahead - make sure all the plaster is replaced as well as the silicone injection and that you have a decent guarantee.
  • it just said on the damp monitor thing that there 'could' be damp because of a single skin wall in the bay at the front of the house (typical of the houses built at that time). it was just a suggestion that we get a survey, but it wasn't a massive 'to do'. we'd just rather get a free survey to find out how bad it could be, what could be done to sort it and how much so that when we have some spare pennies we get it sorted. or not!
